I just stumbled upon the fact that you can use bash on windows 10, and it's easy as fuck. Can even write bash scripts and with upcoming windows update execute windows binaries from there. Any opinions?

Kevin switched from Solus to windows, who knew?

It's very technically impressive, but in practical terms, it's basically Cygwin except a bit faster and it can't use Windows APIs, sound or graphics. It will probably coax some webdevs over to Windows if they need shit like Redis.
The most exciting thing about WSL is that they had to make the console less shit for it to work, so now the console is less shit, even when hosting native Win32 programs.

Hey Kevin, where are the homepage threads?

Kevin, why aren't you developing your botnet anymore?

KEvin is such a cuck name

What did they improve on the console?

Yes. It looks like Microsoft are finally admitting that all cmd/powershell/whatever on windows is and always has been UTTER SHIT and they've decided to get with the winning team.

You can resize it horizontally by dragging the window and the text will reflow. It also parses VT220, 256-color and true-color escape sequences now, so it's a real virtual terminal.
>>58401921
it's limited, not full bash
of course, because it's in windows

Install Kevin.
>>58401921
Can you install gcc in it and compile windows binaries? Thats would be the only reason i would use it.
>>58401921
Its aight, but It's ~5 years too late for me. I've gotten used to using ssh or a vm to get a shell when I need one in windows, and their implementation doesn't have tons of advantages over it

Can't even edit Linux files. Worthless garbage. VMs are still a thing as far as I can remember.
