How can I get VirtualBox to recognize the super key inside a running VM?
For some reason when I press it, it's not getting received by my Manjaro i3 guest, meaning I can't perform any of the i3 keyboard shortcuts necessary to operate the system.
What are some workarounds? Can I change the super key for my host? Or something less drastic?

Are you running windows by any chance?

What DE are you using?
In KDE, I had to do a workaround so the kickoff launcher wouldnt overthrow the super key. After doing that, VBox never had any issues with it.
In EXWM, I haven't had any issues with it at all.
Both of these are with a Wingdings 8 guest, with both Void Linux and KDE Neon hosts.
Got it to work by changing the default behavior of super key to be calling the start menu on the host.
Thanks all who tried to help!
