Found this PC in Lowes.
What OS is it running?
>>58390814
looks like some kind of custom, minimal gnu/linux distro
probably a terminal session to an as/400 system running the company's inventory control COBOL
>>58390866
This is very likely considering it's all uppercase like in the olden days.
Actually they're all running a really weird, locked down version of Windows 7.
>>58390978
I doubt win 7 would have xterm no matter how minimal
It's definitely Linux. Might be emulating DOS though.
>>58391093
Yea as soon as I saw it I thought it looked like Linux.
Could it be a minimal Buntu install?
>>58390814
RHEL probably. The WM seems to be openbox with clearlooks theme, and the black panel at the bottom looks like tint2. That taskbar on the left side could be some sort of lightweight dock program. Never seen it before.
Second from left Firefox window is running KRONOS which is used to timestamp in/out of work.
it's a custom install of openSUSE
>>58390814
Lowes rolls their own Fedora distro for internal use

Just did a quick DDG search and found this >reddit post.

Wow that is pretty sweet.
>>58390978
Lol
Last time i went in lowes the cashiers were all running POS ready 2009.
>Right on the sticker: For IT support vist the Lowe's self-help website.
>Visits 4chan.
Most major retailers just putty into a custom POS, fuck half of them are just dos
>>58390814
nigger just run:
$ uname -a
it'll tell you everythiing
Lowe's has been running Linux on its POS systems for years. Since 2010, at least, though probably longer.
>>58391223
Anyway to get a copy from the tubes?
>>58391223
was gonna say redhat
surprised no one mentioned either
honestly what else could it be
>>58392642
I was only there for a quick second
>>58397871
uname -a isn't always that interesting, especially if they're running custom kernels
try something like
$ cat /etc/*release*
$ cat /etc/issue
next time
>>58390814
Locked down debian
Some kind of weird dodge stratus
>>58397915
Thanks sure will. Is it possible to get in trouble with the store?
>>58390814
Just from looking at the mouse pointer makes me think this runs some version of Windows 7
lowes has been using linux for awhile now. i remember seeing linux on their computers back in 2007 when i was still in high school.
Looks like Docky or something on the left side of the screen.
>>58390866
is there really no way to install a as/400 server in your PC?
>>58390814
Looks like tinycore.
>>58390814
>leaving a company computer wide open
Someone needs to give these people a lecture on basic computer security
Probably Windows 98 or some shit.
>>58390814
>speaker icon
kind of linux..
>>58391253
>found this post on >reddit
>'how do you know it's openSUSE?'

we've come full circle boys.
>>58401302
there's literally nothing there to damage or steal, why would you have to secure it?
