If you start trying to think about a gaming rig as any sort of "investment" you've already missed the point. It's purely for recreation and the enjoyment people get out of it doesn't need to be justified. If someone sacrificed higher end components to get a fancier case and cosmetics then maybe you could make an argument, but some LED strips are only in the range of ~20 USD for a whole case.

Because lots of people find it cool. It's a nice and useless gimmick.
