/ultrawide/ here, unless your desk can't accommodate dual monitors, go with two monitors. I like my ultrawide but I'd prefer two smaller screens.

Dual monitors on adjustable arms so they can be put horizontal or vertical at my discretion.

Once you get used to having multiple windows open at the same time its hard to go back, I play several games where I like to have a reference article open at the same time without having to alt-tab or whatever.

Dual is the way to go.

At home I have Ultrawide and at work I have 2 monitors.

2 monitors is nicer because you can rotate one of the side.

If it's just desktop use, pretty much anything from 2012 on will run at least 3 displays.

Dual monitors are fucking stupid. When I bought a second one as an upgrade, I thought I could get some mileage out of the old one but all it did was serve to shoot more photons into one eye and distract me from the main monitor so I just ended up leaving it off 99% of the time

How so? Game open full screen on monitor 1, maps, references, quest info, chat boxes, skype/discord, etc on 2nd monitor.

If you can't function with a 2nd screen you literally shouldn't even be using a desktop computer because whatever you're doing can likely be done just as well on a laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

Dual, but I'm liking how my setup is with dual monitors on the desk and a wall mounted TV. Shots nice.

I need to buy longer cables before bothering, i've already tried with the current setup and I simply don't have enough slack on the cables.

No point cleaning up 4 or 5 cables when you have 8 more that cant be.

i can't get high pixel density displays in larger monitors, so dual. also portrait orientation is just the best for coding, reading, and browsing.

Dual because its cheaper than a good ultrawide (at least at lower resolutions) and you can adjust your layout later on if you decide you need to have a portrait monitor.

i was just discussing this in BST, i dont think dual monitors should be a thing if they are of equal size and resolution, its horrible in terms of symmetry. If you sit in the middle you are looking at bezel, and if you sit in front of one, there is a monitor poking off to one side but not the other, it's shit. Dual monitor makes sense to me when you have a big primary high res monitor, and then maybe a smaller monitor on the wing, like a 30 inch 4k with a 20 inch 1080p on one side, that's an awesome setup if you just sit in front of the 4k and treat the extra screen like a handy corner. Saying that, triple monitor is a really strong argument, as you can keep symmetry and still have big ass high res monitors, its just very expensive. I'm sure everyone here would enjoy sitting in front of 3 4k monitors

Unproductive Student here, even I know how to use 2 screens for productivity.

More montiors == more workspace, whatever you need it for. If one monitor is enough workspace for you, you probably dont do ANYTHING productive with your machine in the first place.

No the closest you'll get are the 1-2mm bezel with a ~3-5mm inner bezel.

I think the newest dell ultrasharps have slightly under 5mm total bezel width

My desktop is much more powerful than a mobile device. 1 monitor with multiple workspaces does fine for me working with solidworks and cad. I don't need a second monitor just to glance at some text.

You don't always need to maximize all windows. That setup can work with 2 monitors perfectly fine but even so virtual workspaces allow all that on 1 MONITOR
