You're just mad I get paid more to write glorified bash scripts.
At my job, we are responsible for writing our application software, testing it, writing the tests and test software, and then properly deploying, scaling and monitoring our applications.
The idea of siloing those concerns seems foolhardy.
Like it would lead to both the developers not really thinking about scalability and live ops concerns, and to the ops folks not prioritizing getting code out and immediately iterating on it/fixing its flaws. Or not being empowered to make changes necessary to either side of the equation.
Animosity and empire building seems like the inevitable outcome.
But our software isn't in charge of stuff that can kill people if there's a glitch so maybe that's where the difference lies.
