Is the Priv still worth it? I currently have a Z3compact and I've had my eye on the Priv for a while because of the physical keyboard. I don't mind losing the compact factor if it means I can use that keyboard but I'm not sure if the Priv would be a shitty upgrade.

Also do you guys think it'll go down in price anymore? It's currently around $350 new but it was around $800 when it first came out.

The mercury is supposed to come out this year if you are willing to wait and if you want a blackberry in the classic formfactor I think. No idea about the priv tho. BB is apparently a bit slow with updates despite having stock android with tiny modifications. Maybe they need more time to make it more secure? I have no fucking idea.

Boys I am disappointed by samsung, my s2 and s4 both got stuck in an unsolvable boot loop.
Currently using my old s3. I just want to be able to watch full hd videos without lagging like my s4 did.
What do you guys think. Should I give it one last try with a S7 edge or fuck it and buy a huawei/htc instead? I don't like iOS and I'd like my phone to pack a punch.
Price is irrelevant, unless we are talkig about 800 euros or some stupid shit like that. I live in Germany.

What is the best around these four phones? Excluding OP3T because it ain't available in retail and ordering online is hell in my country.

Moto Z Play
Huawei Honor 8

Also, is OIS even worth it if you rarely shoot videos?

Z Play best battery.
Axon 7 best sound.
Honor 8 best camera.
Idol 4S.. VR meme.

I'd take the Honor 8 or Z Play personally.
>>
>>58373713
Im not big on pictures so I'll probably go Z play. Would you recommend the soundboost mod or is it heavily overpriced?

Is the difference between a 625 and a 820 noticeable in real world application?
>>
>>58373781
I barely listen to music on my phone so I don't care much for the sound mod.
Unless you play games and such SD625 should be enough for most tasks. but if you want top performance Axon 7 is the the fastest.
>>
>>58373656
Probably going to love the Z play then if you desperately need 'big battery'. Also its version of android is way less annoying than Hawaii, ZTE. Although Alcatel is OK.
>>
>>58373590
If you love the S7, then go for it. Just know S8 is going to be announced soon.
Also I'd go HTC over Huawei, given the choice. Especially since you said you don't like iOS, and EMUI (huawei) is very iOS inspired.
Also the HTC 11 is going to be announced soon too so wait a couple of weeks (less than 2 months tho).
>>
>>58373212
That's how big guys roll.

>>

I hear the axon 7 is plagued with software problems that fuck up connectivity, reception, and power managment.
>>
>>58373656
Z Play>Honor 8>Idol 4s>shit>Axon 7

I cant find the plebbit link but AX7 forcefully closes most apps whenever its locked, that means no notifications from youtube, fagbook and the like, music players are also a no thanks to this, so unless there is an stable custom rom somewhere i wouldnt buy it.

Z Play if you want yuge battery, amolel and stock android, dont bother with the z mods as they are all shit, Honor 8 is better looking and has better specs but EMUI is probably the most cancerous android skin ever made, nobody gets an android phone to make it look like ios, what the fuck.
>>
>>58374502
Yeah Chinese software is always bad. Z play is stock so that's a big plus.

I guess if you are a tinfoil freetard it would be worth buying but these jews are asking for 540 dollars if you want your own BLACKEDphone, for comparison the 3/32 Moto G4 Plus costs around 220 dollars and is slightly better, has a fingerprint sensor, gyroscope and the same level of privacy the BLACKED tots around can be achieved if you install RR/CM14 on it without gapps, replacing it with F-droid and microG if you just cant get the taste of mobile youtube cock out of your mouth.

Yesterday evening I got an email saying that now it wouldn't ship until 3/10. This is ridiculous, is there anyone who is providing these sooner? I'm might just cancel my order, I really don't want to wait 4 months total for a consumer electronic.

Dont bother, all pixel phones have audio crackling at max volume, cancel your order and get an OP3T/HTC10 for half the price or wait for SD835 devices.

>b-but third party ROMs fix the issue, google dindu nuffin he a good boi

Not they dont, all it does is fucking drop the max volume one level so the crackling issue doesnt kick in, tricking you into thinking (((they))) fixed it so you go running at your nearest store and order your Google (TM) Pixel (TM) 128GB at the fair price of 900 shekels, nevermind that you just ruined one of the main reasons to get a google/nexus phone, which is stock android similar to ios and top tier specs for a justwerks experience without having to fuck around with custom roms, root or bootloaders.

Stop posting pictures of my wife, you disgrace her with your faggotry.

Not only that, SoT is absolutely pathetic for a phone that expensive, its literally made of cheap plastic not suited for outdoors use (if you even get to use it outdoors at all since tyrone will immediately steal it the moment you leave the house), not to mention faulty speakers and the lens flaring of the camera, kind of interesting someone mentions buying a pixel when the anon before him just shat on it dont you think? GIDF hard at work it seems.

Hi guys, I'm looking to install cyanogenmod 14.1 onto my op2, but, here's the kicker, I can't have a rooted device. I need the banking apps and the pingit app from my bank, I use them daily and can't afford to lose them just to root a phone.

IIRC CM now comes non rooted, and you turn it on in developer options if needed right? But my main question is, is it possible to flash CM 14.1 and gapps using stock op recovery?

>>
>>58379253
No you cant, you need to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery (TWRP) in order to install roms, thats like wanting to fit a normal ram stick meant for desktops on a laptop without opening the laptop itself, the phone needs to be "open" so to speak, the stock recovery doesnt even have any options beyond factory reset, cache, data, settings clearing and reboot, you need TWRP for the "install from zip" shit to pop up.

Dont quote me on it but i remember some goys at /vp/ using a certain xposed module to mask root and some other things in order to spoof locations and catch fat orange dragons on that mobile pogeymen game.

>>
>>58379392
Ah cheers anyway mate, especially for not taking the piss. TWRP is root only right? If I root and install rom via TWRP, I can disable root in CM?
>>
>>58379427
Yes but i dont think you fully understand, if you want to fuck around with custom roms you need to flash the recovery, supersu and root via adb to your stock rom, which immediately "unlocks" the phone, and it stays that way no matter what custom rom you have until you somehow flash the stock rom back again, then it relocks and unroots itself (or at least thats how it worked with my moto g2), not 100% sure on it, try asking on xda.

No idea about cyanogenmod, ive been using crdroid and resurrection remix for all my devices in the past 5 years, i didnt like that official builds of CM wanted you to use their custom recovery to flash properly.

DO NOT FUCKING BUY LG SMARTPHONES

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3-DLt72X3c

This is not a meme or unbiased opinion, these pieces of shit are legitimately faulty from the factory, i would understand if it was their budget throwaway phones that did this(clasical gook chinking the burger out of a few yuan) BUT ITS THEIR FUCKING 800 DOLLARS FLAGSHIPS THE ONES THAT BOOTLOOP, so until LG sorts out their shit and solders properly i wouldnt buy anything from them, your V20 is basically on a very short timer, you cannot have any sensible info on the phone even with an SD card on it because one random day you might lose everything you had on the phone, and the only (ghetto) solution is putting it on top of an oven and factory resetting via adb.

Is there an app for this? I was reading that newer phones have the ability to be used as radios but phone providers turn these abilities off. Anyone have experience with this?

>>
>>58379403
I had only used budget phones before the V20 and I've gotta admit, I'm super satisfied with the purchase. I don't think it's worth full retail price upfront ($800+), so unless you get it on contract or around $500 used I wouldn't recommend it.

That said, here is what I like most about it so far:
>screen size.
I make fewer errors when swiping on the keyboard, watching content is so much better, and the phone still fits neatly inside my skinny jeans/chinos.
>processor
My last phone didn't even have 4G/LTE so add that to a high-end processor and everything on this phone is fast. Absolutely nothing has lagged for me.
>UI
I used to be a stock android fanboy but LG's UI is quite good. It's so customizable even the settings have settings. Specifically I've enjoyed comfort view (blue light filter), mini view (shrinks screen size for one-handed use) and smart settings (basically IFTTT).
>camera
Wide lens is seriously amazing

Things that have disappointed me are:
>speaker
Bottom-firing, quiet compared to my previous front-facing speakers, prone to blowing before software update
>second screen
It's not essential, and light bleed is a little annoying
>battery life
I'm getting between 3-4 hours, but at least it's removable so I have 100% instantly

>>58379599
My dad's G4 bootlooped but ever since then their devices have been less prone to bootlooping. I'll admit the V20 off warranty is a riskier purchase, but I like what LG is doing with hardware and was willing to gamble.
>>
I'm deciding between the 3T, Honor 8, Axon 7, and the nexus 6P. Any pointers?
>>
>>58381477
I would also add the the V20 is much easier to repair than the S7 Edge and the Pixel. No glue, only aluminum/plastic rather than glass, and cheap replacement parts. This isn't something that's mentioned in reviews but I'm not afraid to take my tech apart and LG seems to be the only phone company that doesn't impede me.
>>
What are good clock widgets for ricing that aren't dashclock

Also how do I change the captcha settings on clover
>>
What's the point of the edge on the S7 edge? Seems like it's even easier to crack the screen with that there.
>>
>>58381477
Comfort view isn't unique to LG. I think it's a nougat feature; my HTC 10 also has a blue light filter, but it's called night mode.
>>
>>58381541
I think the idea was to embiggen the screen without changing the size of the phone
>>
>>58381416
>Why isn't it possible for phones to stop charging themselves when they're full?
It is and they do
>>
>>58381593
But doesn't the edge distort the image though?
>>
>>58381612
I don't have one. Not sure. But the point is that Samsung can advertise a phone with a bigger screen, even if part of it is distorted.

>>
>>58381608
That's not what everyone says, overcharging your phone is bad for the battery
>>
>>58381704
You damage your battery not by leaving it plugged in past 100% but by charging it frequently ("topping up") and not waiting for it to hit 5% or so. And you really shouldn't be buying phones with non-removable batteries if you care about battery longevity ie. keeping your phone longer than 2 years

I have a rooted 32gb LG G3 D855 that i bought back in october 2014. Tonight the screen suddenly went dark, then the phone turned off. I didn't need my phone so i just left it like that. After an hour or so i tried to boot it up, but it kept boot looping into a blue screen. It always took different amounts of time for the blue screen to appear. Once it even let me insert my pin. Now the phone won't boot up at all, even though the battery was at 50-60% before this shit happened. It also doesn't charge. Does the oven trick work or is it just a meme? If it works, how long will my phone last before it gets bricked again?
If you'd recommend i buy a new phone, should i get a current flagship or wait till somewhere around march while using a dumbphone?

tl;dr my lg g3 bootlooped into a blue screen until it died. What do

No issues but the regular S7's battery is mediocre as fuck compared to say, the HTC10 even though they're both the same capacity (3000 mAh), if you want a samsung phone shell out the extra 150 dollars for the S7E, curved screen is bothersome but the battery is much, much better, make sure you get the exynos version as it is technically more powerful and has more third party support in XDA, perfect once those gooks abandon it for the S8, which so far looks not worth buying (no SD slot, no 3.5mm jack, the promised fingerprint scanner under the screen was just boasting, MUH THINNESS, 6")

Trying out the fixer apps will not hurt anything.
Replacing the display by hand is fucking hard, and Samsung service is very expensive, so just try the fixer apps.

How the fuck does this even happen?
I am a power user. I use my Note 4 a lot, it's two years old, and I even have a ZeroLemon for it. I made it run for hours straight in GPS mode and such.

Yet, there is 0 burn in.

Xperia phones have godlike standby time.
Without any battery saver my Z3C lasts 3 days with light use. Moderate use is 2 full days.

My Note 4 lasts a day, or less. And the battery is in pristine shape, nothing runs. But stock Android is just shit at battery saving.

I guess my only real question is: If I buy a Moto G4 International Version will it work properly in the US?

I fucked up and bought a Moto G4 US version. Each of the SIMs works individually, but there was only one SIM slot. Btw one SIM is T-Mobile (for voice and text) and the other is Verizon (for 4G data).

Is there a simple explanation/description of international smartphones in general or is it really as convoluted as it seems?

Chink phone specs and prices are very tempting, but the UI/interface kills every one of them including Redmi, ASUS, Xiaomi, Huawei.

CM had stable builds back in the KitKat era, but that's gone now. You can only get Nightly that have problems, no matter which phone you use.

I thought OnePlus will change this, but McFucker had to fuck this up by backstabbing OP.
>>
>>58387187
That's why you do research before the purchase. Considering how many Samsungs you had you just never bothered.
>>
>>58387208
Stable was never stable, just a "good enough" nightly version. These problems don't stem from CM itself, it's due to phones being locked down pieces of shit without sources.
>>
>>58387214
These Samsung devices are the most popular phones ever made lol.

I also had a HTC One X - had to take it back around 10 times due to GPU artifacts, overheating, and other issues.
In the end they just refunded it.
I loved the phone though, it had such great looks, character, apps, everything was "awesome" about it.

Then I bought an Xperia Sola, and the screen popped out of the frame on day.

With all those Samsung phones I only had ONE issue, with an S3 LTE.
It stopped accepting calls from one day. Took it back, Samsung repaired the same day, and it's still works just as good.
Face it, back then you had not much contest.
Xperia Z was the first real rival, but it had a 200% price tag compared to Samsung and no replaceable battery.
HTC M7 was the next other big contender, same huge price tag and same integrated battery issue.

To anyone who uses DNS66 to block ads, is it a battery hungry whore like AdBlock (the app not the firefox plugin) or is it just like AdAway where it doesnt need to be running in the background to work? And is it also system wide like AdAway or just in the browser and youtube? Usually i would root and put adaway on my phone but official nougat is just a week away in my country and i want to see how good/shitty it is before i decide to either move onto a custom nougat rom or stay there with root and TWRP in case of any major fuckup.

There are no good clock widgets, if you truly want to get into phone ricing you need to learn how Nova Prime and KLWP work; most clocks, music players, dates with weather and animations are custom made in KLWP with a little help from xposed and gravitybox.

Only good for Europoors. the X5 plus is good.
>>
Whats a good music app?
>>
>>58374362
BANE?
>>
>>58392302

Ja, I'm euro. X5 Plus is perfect for me (on paper), but I can see how the narrow choice of LTE bands would disqualify it for everyone else.

I can't find any reviews though. Only in spanish and german and I only understand german a little. Maybe I'll pull the trigger and review it in 'english'
>>
>>58392658
It's a small Spanish company. good specs and runs CM out of the box.
>>
are there good redmi 3s or 4A rugged cases?
>>
>>58392658
>>58391499

I got the x5 plus for my mom since she wanted a new android phone and I wasn't so sure about samshit. Buildquality definitely feels nice, call quality is good, battery is quite big so the standbytime will be good. Near stock android, they only install ONE app from them and that's for extra insurance or something like that. Camera is good for the price. It's okay I guess. I'd recommend it if you want a 5 inch smartphone that is not too expensive and comes with stock android (soon comes the update to 7.0)
>>
>>58381510
3T or 6p. I own a 6p and love it. If I had to choose between the two I'd probably go for the 3T at this point for the specs alone

>Without any battery saver my Z3C lasts 3 days with light use
those days have passed by anon. Z3C was godlike on the battery department, since then every single phone got worse at it. Do not recommend Xperias based on the Z3C because at this point it seems that the phone was a fucking fluke. This is from someone that also owned one and has seen how shit are the Z5C, the whole X line, the shitty X Compact and the new XZ.
I don't like the size but the only phone that is an upgrade from the Z3C is the regular Z5, the big one.
>>
>>58376038
I'm kind of in the same boat as you are, I'm divided between buying a redmeme 3s or a iphone 5s/se because they're cheap there are hundreds of rugged cases and got a nice camera.

Also the 10000mah chink phone is huge pocket bomb waiting to explode.

Yeah, the phone that comes with Chinese malware preinstalled additionally to all the amazon adware crap all of which cannot be uninstalled because it's hardware based.

I actually decided to just go for whatever moto g4 I can find, fuck it
>>
>>58394346
I cant do that, Im in the US and the moto g4 here is closer to 200, for that kind of money ill buy the iphone 5s which happens to cover all LTE bands in Europe. Or I get the redmeme for 120 but no rugged cases anywhere to be seen.
>>
>>58393995
I'd also consider the LG G2
>>

Im here for a month or two and then will be going to europe. and according to willmyphonework.net they work in the US except for LTE
>>

BS. it has ONE supported 3G band (1900mhz) and that's it. not to mention it has an unfixable network bug and that the 4 prime is already out.
>>
>>58394515
Thats good to know, didn't plan on using it here anyway anon. Do you have any sugestions on something with LTE in Europe $200 USD or under that is rugged or has rugged cases? Stock Android preferred, 5" or under, with good camera.

>>
>>58394681
eh, at least it has a Mokee stock android rom. beware that both MiUI and ZUI are pure cancer. the reason RN3P was famous here was because it had ton of custom roms.
>>
>>58394715
>RN3P
I looked into it, it was more than I wanted to spend. To me the perfect phone would be something like the Moto E2 with a good camera. But there isn't anything like that on Android anymore, custom bloated from factory ROMs. 5.5 or bigger screens, costing near or more than iphones cost, along with all the problems that custom roms bring, along with ridiculous specs that eat battery like a $2 whore, Android is going off the fucking rails and ios went full retard backwards.

Verizon is *horrible* about this kind of crap. I remember looking into them because their network was great, only to find out that they hobbled the shit out of Bluetooth on any device they sold. All so they could squeeze every penny out of idiots for ringtones.

God. Reminds me of interviewing back in 2008 or so. Fucking idiot recruiter calls about some job with a Japanese telecom/entertainment company looking to expand to the US. She asked what I thought of mobile (could you get any more vague). I told her I thought mobile was in its absolute infancy in the US. She got all offended (WTF) and condescendingly told me how they make money on ringtones. Fucking RINGTONES. Now look, 8/9 years later, how much fucking Apple rakes in on the App Store. Everyone in the mobile space is a fucking retard.

>BQ Aquaris X5 Plus
Just decided on this phone.

+ Bq supports open source development, can be easily rooted officially
+ no bloatware
+ supports not only GPS and GLONASS but also GALILEO which went live on January 1st 2017
+ matte plastic, not ugly glass or glossy plastic

Seems like this is the Moto OG of 2017
>>
>>58396898
>2017
Almost. On 15 December 2016, Galileo started offering Initial Operational Capability (IOC).

This should make the Aquaris X5 Plus the smart phone with the most accurate geolocation

>Samsung Galaxy J3

Vs

>Moto G4 Play

Which one is the better choice?
>>
My grandmother asked to use my phone today to take a picture and said this is the first phone she used and didn't need to squint to see the screen. I'm happy I got a phablet.
>>
>>58398417
Who cares desu she'll be dead in a few years
>>
>>58398374
The G4 play, how is this even a question

-1.5 GB ram of J3 vs 2 GB ram of the g4 play
-some shitty exynos vs SD410, both are weak as hell but snapdragon guarantes roms/its easier to make your own
-touchjizz and no updates ever vs stock android with nougat update on february-march for all models
-2600 mAh vs 2800 mAh

Low budget samsungs are also notorious for being shitty as all fuck whereas motorola makes GOAT budget phones
>>
>>58398535
Thanks desu

I was under the assumption Samsung was a good phone brand because of its Galaxy flagships but I guess Motorola makes better budget phones.

Side note, I live 8 minutes away from Motorola's headquarters
>>
>>58398580
They make good flagships yeah, but their J/C series are horrendous, their only good budget phones were the grand prime and the express prime.
>>
>>58398632
There was a Samshill in these threads a few weeks ago telling everyone how the J7 was unbeatable for its price range
>>
>>58375822
dunno why, happened to me once. still dunno how a restart and ppsspp fixed the problem. I thought the screen was fubar.
>>
>>58398730
I assume he means the J7 2016 no? In terms of specs it is literally a reskinned moto G4 with a better camera and bigger battery, however the G4 is a 5.5" 1080p LCD phone whereas the J7 is also a 5.5" AMOLED but with a 720p screen, this is kind of a double edged sword since smaller res=better battery duration and it might tecnically also avoid the overheating issues of the G4 but the screen will look like shit.

Not bad for $50

Make sure it works, almost every single one gets sim detection issues.
>>
>>58394767
Mi4C is what you want
>>
>>58400172
G4 or G4 Play are both great choices. I have a G4 Play and have no regrets, performs quickly, battery is phenomenal, camera is decent and quick, display is good. I prefer the 5" size over the 5.5" G4 size, but personal preference. And I got mine for $100

But if you wanna spend a little more and don't mind a bigger handset, G4's only competition is the Galaxy J7
>>
>>58400210
Moto G4
>>58400307
I assume that's the one with the lockscreen ads? Are they intrusive? You can get rid of them if you have root access right?
>>
>>58400522
No ads, it's the unlocked box straight from Motorola with almost nothing on it aside from like one or two Motorola apps. I was lucky and found a $50 markdown box at Target because it was a repackage return. Was clean but did a factory reset just in case.

what's up with MIUI versioning?

Stable = V8.1.1.0.MHRMIDI (MIUI8)
Developer = 7.1.5 (MIUI8)

which is newer?
>>
>>58402228
Developer is versioned year.month.day and built weekly, stable is versioned after the version of MIUI.

Developer is newer. I've had mine since March, I suggest mi-globe.com ROM if you unlock the bootloader
