Anybody else here obsessed with modernizing older hardware? Got this PowerBook G4 and I put Lubuntu 16.04 on it. It actually works just as "good" as OSX 10.04 does, but its actually modern. Currently trying to make it look as close to Yosemite as I can. Tho I cant seem to get the battery monitor and video playback to work. Otherwise everything is in working order.

Anybody else trying to push older hardware to its limits?
>>
Yeah...I made my G4 iBook look more like Yosemite / El Capitan using shapeshifter and a theme called Chocolate milk..
>>
I should do this with my 2001 powerbook, probably will shit itself when browsing the internet but I love that keyboard

What specs?
>>

Quick question, did video work by default or did you have to install something? Same for battery monitoring?

>>58371493
Well 4chan works slowly but it still can be actually used.

For some reason only version 16.04 works, 12 had no GUI, yellowdog straight up didn't open, same with SUSE. And I cant plug it to ethernet to get Debian or Mint. But Lubuntu actually works like a charm

Well my battery is shit so i don't trust the monitoring at all..In terms of video 720p video plays just fine using coreplayer.

>Tho I cant seem to get the battery monitor and video playback to work

Try -vo x11 or some other ancient renderer.
>>
>>58371224
I don't see why people use lookalike themes. They _always_ look like utter shit.
>>
>>58371858

I wanted to fool my friend who uses a Macbook that I had Yosemite. It worked.

>Lubuntu

Why? Xfce or Unity would do just fine.
>>
>>58372413

I will try them, Firs im gonna try OS9.2.2 tho. Its gonna be a doozie installing it thru USB tho.

No.

I enjoy old hardware and software like it is.
Trying to modernise it is idiotic, just use new hardware.
>>
Anybody here know if I can somehow install OS9.2.2 via USB?
>>
>>58373151
No.

Because they will believe anything, because they are normies and don't care about your shit.
