Bad marketing. Look at iPhone and Samsung advertisements and you'll see

A lot went wrong.

They were first into the smartphone business in the pre-botnet era.

But were late to switch to the botnet-era.

Android and iOS were well established and had huge market of applications while Blackberry still was putting out BBOS9 devices with pre-2010 technology.

After they jumped Android and iOS already carved the market for themselves.

And theren the endless circle of shittyness begins

and the circle begins again.

It's sad. BBOS10 was a great OS. Based on QNX which is rtos unix.

Iphone and selling backdoors to governments because the iphone took over their marketshare.

The beginning of the end was the release of the blackberry storm. I was a long time bb customer when I originally read about the first iPhone. My thought was well that looks cool but I'll hold out and see how RIM answers. And then came the release of the storm. Cool commercials, cool concept, terrible execution. To this day the worst phone I've ever owned and was my reason to eventually jump ship to Android and I haven't looked back.

Shitty hardware specs for way too long. After android and apple started dominating, waited way too long to make the switch to android (bbos10 was great, but no apps).
