For the unix wizards here, maybe you heard of Linux From Scratch, pretty cool project about making a an operative system from scratch, but you probably haven't heard of Linux From Script (https://www.lfscript.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page), an automated way to that.

Very cool stuff for the hardcore looking to fight "the man" by being paranoid about every package you have in your machine.

Shame I can't program so I'll never be a slippery hacker.
Sometimes I like to imagine what role I would have in a /cyb/ revolution, hypothetically. Not a foot soldier/rioter, but maybe a supply runner or some behind the scenes guy...fixing/building shit, because I'm good with my hands, or managing gear/supplies.
This is just an autistic /cyb/ fantasy; imagining shit to entertain myself. I don't single it out to cyberpunk though, it's just how I judge my skills and how useful I would be to a group of people in any situation...natural disaster, etc.

But as for preparing in the meantime...probably hoard actually useful ebooks/pdfs/images/videos. AND HAVE RELIABLE WAYS TO ACCESS THEM
Doesn't hurt to have physical copies (printed and in binders) of the most valuable information. All the way from basic survival skills to home remedies, construction, science, computers, etc...
I guess I'm sort of a heathen because I'm trying to focus on skills other than tech.

This guy is wrong.
She did wear a skin-tight transparent camouflage suit in original movie, which is clearly seen as separate tissue in the scene where she rips her hands off trying to unscrew a tank's turret.
In the new movie it is either a skintight bodysuit too, but not transparent at normal conditions, or her body skin itself.

That is just because Cyberpunk is so many things. Also what was SciFi in the 80's is now everyday life in our world of today.

BBC is a source of (unintended) cyberpunk, here are two articles that really show where we have ended up:
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20170105-why-we-may-be-living-in-the-future-of-the-running-man
http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20161125-network-at-40-the-film-that-predicted-the-future

We are already there, perhaps not so much in the tech yet but very much there in grittiness and media controlled world. take a look at >>58371759 for some examples.

>probably hoard actually useful ebooks/pdfs/images/videos. AND HAVE RELIABLE WAYS TO ACCESS THEM
I have TB disks with documentation and friends I have routinely do backups of interesting sites (learn the way of the 'wget'). This is not for reasons of conspiracy fantasies but rather to counter the ephemeral nature of the net. Google does not let you find everything, not by a long shot.

Also your disk images are not loaded with ads.

>if I have a child in the future I will consider having it enhanced

A gene fetish that interests me is getting an eastern african girl and having any future offstring get genetically modified to have white skin. East africans have often caucasoid features so it's only a matter of skin color. White boys look better.
>>
>>58376434
>east african girl
>calls it a boy
you're not one of THOSE fags are you?
>>
>>58376477
What? Maybe you need to reread what I wrote. I'll try explaining it in some other way.

There's scepticism of non white offspring when had with a dark skinned female. Often caucasoid features make those females look more atractive. So the gene fetish here is to change the skin color of the offspring. Then the female would be more than just an atraction.

The DARPA-Alphabet Conglomerate sending a message to your phone advising you to stop browsing /pol/.

Enough with your persecution fantasies you stupid /pol/ack. They aren't going to go after shit directly like that. Non self driving cars will be off the roads due to high insurance premiums and will become something that only rich enthusiasts enjoy before they will face bans. "Non approved" websites will be strangled with red tape and the cost of needing to remove to content to children/fight terrorists/stop pirates and won't be banned directly, and resources will be spent going after the websites that regularly violate those "simple to follow" rules rather than the users. If anything hurts FOSS it will be more locked down devices, mandatory DRM for viewing content (HTML5 EME is already a thing), and cloud based services that companies will start pushing which will seem more convenient to the average person than owning a regular computer that they could run anything GNU/[mandatory DRM for accessing mainstream services]/Linux on. Totalitarian oppression in more developed countries is last century, because it's significantly easier to get others to speak out against.

Imageboards are mostly shit now days. You have the choice between mostly dead (ex. lain as a whole gets as many posts per week as /g/ gets in an hour or two), all dead (ex. endchan, infinity next, freech, and older boards), a /pol/ack infestation and mod problems (ex. 8gag, where /pol/ and occasionally /leftypol/ take turns derailing threads on other boards with mostly absent mods, and the boards without absent mods have rather strict rules), or extremely low signal to noise ratio in general where you're wading through shit more often than not (4chan). I really don't know why I subject myself to this shit anymore.

Not much that I know of short of regularly making disposable accounts elsewhere, but it hasn't just been anonymous communities that have gone downhill. On reddit, the posting on popular subreddits is reaching youtube comments levels of quality. The combination of increased population on the internet, modern outrage culture, and smartphones with their limitations on how much you can easily type, multitasking ability, and content creation has done irreparable damage to online communities and it's getting to the point where I think it's safe to say it's the end of an era. To elaborate further on why I mention content creation, after GamerGate and the Fappening in 2014 connections to 4chan from mobile devices rose to 42% and have since risen to 56%. I think it's safe to say that this is likely one of the main reasons behind the lack of new OC here in recent years.

On one hand, I too would like to be part of a better community, but I shit post far too much to resolve myself of guilt for what /g/ has become.
>at least I don't post in Desktop Threads

Perhaps if we really want to see OC, we should build something to have a community around, rather than just website like 4chan that *is* its community, and is so prone to becoming a echo chamber of shitposting. For instance, I've been thinking about creating a highly configurable & moddable video game (perhaps cyb related). If such a thing was appealing to a wide enough audience, we would see a lot of OC being generated. This is already the case with things like minecraft (lots of mods despite the jew creators feebly attempting to close-source the thing) and other media where fan art etc. is greatly encouraged (basically every popular video game, e.g. Overwatch). There is simply no drive for OC on 4chan (and few reason to), whatever that would even mean. Certainly the era of past exploits ala Pool's closed, lulzsec, etc., is coming to an end.

>Certainly the era of past exploits ala Pool's closed, lulzsec, etc., is coming to an end.
Not really. What I meant by the end of an era is how much posting quality everywhere has dropped. It seems that any place with a decent amount of posting now days is just flooded with garbage that you have to wade through and simple filters aren't enough to handle it. You need too large of a mod team (which most sites don't have) to really enforce anything with the post rate of modern sites and communities seem to have just stopped caring as much about quality.

I do this on reddit sometimes. Not only is it a chore, but reddit is just fucking terrible. Its only redeeming quality is that there are so many subreddits for every little subset of cars and technology.
But the community is shit. I hate the idea of having upvotes/downvotes on every comment, it makes it impossible to have a real conversation because everybody's worried about their karma.
People shit on china for implementing a ranking system for citizens, and then they go and willingly subject themselves to the same system. What the fuck is wrong with everybody?
If I'm wrong, I want somebody to tell me I'm fucking wrong in as blunt terms as possible. Not be all fucking nicey nice about it because they're afraid of getting voted down.
Classic forums are better, but with few exceptions, they're dead or populated exclusively by middle-aged guys. But they still have the problem of being able to look at somebody's profile and see their post history, so everything you say is being judged in the context of everything you've ever said. That's terrible, too.

I sure hope anonymous image/text boards make a comeback. Cyber revolution when?
>>
>>58388633
>hate the idea of having upvotes/downvotes on every comment, it makes it impossible to have a real conversation because everybody's worried about their karma

This is the same reason why I hate reddit. The site, as you point out, has great resources and are neatly organised and easily searchable, but the community is fucking shite.

I've been coming here since 2007, and was shwon reddit by a friend in 2010. I still come here more often than reddit.

I much rather be called an autistic retard cunt and actually hear everyone's true opinions, than have nobody insult me and get some plastic fake response.

Because it's slow as fuck. 20 extra people from /g/cyb isn't exactly gonna fix the issue and I imagine a lot of us already lurk/post there anyway. Having said that, slow board + good content > fast board + shit content. I think the trouble is, cyberpunk is an incredibly niche genre. game/book/film releases are few and far between so what the actual fuck do you talk about? The same talking points have been rehashed ad nauseam.

it sounds really fucked up, but it's to gain another sense. with these little nodes in your fingertips you can sense electromagnetic radiation. whenever there's a device or whatever in your vicinity that gives off an electric field, you can sense it - the nodes in your fingertips will give off electricity which sets off your own nerves. it's hard to explain, but it really is a sixth sense; a strange buzzing pins&needles senstion wherever an electric field is nearby that fluctuates in intensity along with the intensity of the EM field. i hope i'm explaining this in an understandable manner.

Regarding one of the questions in the video titled CPEU2 - Cyberpunk. From fiction to fact, the one where an audience member asks whether the cyberpunk aesthetic needs to be updated, I actually liked Watch Dogs 2. It's your general Ubishit open world drudgery as far as gameplay goes. The original music is done by Hudson Mohawke, and the villain is cool.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bcygVk848E

I like the look of it more than I thought I would. Nearly bought it over Christmas but didn't in the end, maybe I should have. It seems like it's aimed at my kids and not me, though, which is a dad way of saying that most of the characters seem obnoxious to me.
>>
>>58401912
The writing is super cheesy and it's a lighthearted romp the first half. They start fighting the feds the second half of the game, I just posted the turning point.

You go from playing pranks to:

You are forgetting that Cyberpunk is just a label attached to the movement by outsiders, reusing a title from a story that did not relate to Cyberpunk itself.

yeah that's why you need a medical tag that says something like "no MRI or patient's hands will explode" or whatever. it's an important consideration in terms of whether you want the implants or not - definitely needs to go in the document. would not think badly of anyone for not getting them for that reason.

A lot of jobs will be automated and gone forever.

One scenario I read about suggests there will be a LOT of part time project jobs. E.g. someone wants to do an event. Get a core crew, define project. Hire a temp consultants who will hire all necessary people for 1 - 10 days. Set up wen pages, equipment, run event, do media presence etc. After the event everything will be taken down and web pages archived.

So jobs will be there but also you need a new kind of people: temp consultants, people who do what HR was supposed to do (but never really do): get the right people into the right positions ASAP.

So most jobs will last days or weeks. Permanency will be gone. Retirement funds are evaporating as we speak so people will have to work until 75 or so.

I and a good friend of mine got some implanted too.
They are great for lifting little screws out of holes,
like for example when taking apart hardware.
Plus you find out what kind of objects are magnetic.

Great thanks to L. for getting me there.
We are always really excited to hear about you.
>>
>>58397616
>>58404636
>>58404156
There has been the suggestion of shielding the magnet,
like one would do with other metal fragments stuck in your body.
Someone (may have been on biohack) reported the magnet just spinning,
i however would not rely on that.

The person that implanted mine, removed his because of such a Situation upcomming.

Another big problem with modifications of this kind are insurances.
*Warranty Void* on everything I may or may not own, including my body. kek

>>58404302
The job market will aproach a short-circuit condition.
This will be interesting.
>>
i forgot to add: don't worry, i have run quite a few old-media / magnetic media tests, handled plenty of HDDs during work building clusters, etc etc & end conclusion: have never wiped any data. the implants just don't have a strong enough effect.

>>58405132
the problem with this is that anything which would shield the implants from something as strong as an MRI, would also prevent them from having any sensory effect. it sux but for now it really does seem like "just don't fukken go into any MRIs" is the best plan.

there are other ways to scan you - CT/PET etc - so it's not like you're sacrificing your only way to get medical diagnostics done or anything. i think it's just an inherent problem / risk with the implants. --L

PS. >>58404768
much appreciated. hopefully i will be around to give data/documents/keks a lot more in future.

In terms of cyberpunk dystopia? Windows 10 in a landslide.

In terms of someone trying to evade the dystopia? Probably a security-focused giga-fucking-paranoid OS like OpenBSD, Genode, or Qubes OS.

>The job market will aproach a short-circuit condition.

Interesting, yes, but perhaps not in a good way. Uber drivers being overtaken by driverless cars which in turn will be overtaken by flyers like Ehang even before driverless cars get established in the market. It looks like a dog-eat-dog future. And until that happens the UK is in desperate shortage of drivers thanks to the need for online shopping products having to be delivered.

Future jobs will probably be highly specialised and even more reputation driven.

Finland is experimenting with civil wages. Might be the only way forward.

>the UK is in desperate shortage of drivers thanks to the need for online shopping products having to be delivered.
They should take note of what Australia Post does.
Dying because nobody posts letters any more, they styled themselves as the e-commerce delivery service.
I had an eBay delivery scheduled last Tuesday. At 2:30 I noticed a "You weren't home" card under my front doormat. "Your parcel will be at the local Post Office after 4 PM". I went straight down and collected it at 2:45.
Obviously it was never on the truck. The driver just sneaked in and placed the card.
I Googled, and found this is very common.

It's a shame Tom Scott is a faggot who clearly takes himself too seriously.

I like SysV/OpenRC too, at least right until I learn about sinit and daemontools. Haven't try it yet but such a minimal init with daemontools is exciting.

Linux libre with patches like grsecurity or at least the AppArmor lkm is my dream, wish it would be more patches available like SecureLevel or even GoboHide but is kinda difficult to find good patches/modules for the begginer.
