It's not the 90s anymore there's no really 'illegal' books like when they had to pass around illicit photocopies of user manuals.
NoStarchPress has everything you need, you can find pie-rat copies on libgen.io including their new books about network hacking.
Crypto you want to read crypto101.io and do the cryptopals challenges (google them). You also want Web Hacker's Guide, The Tangled Web/Browser Security book, and The Art of Software Security Assessment combined with the book 'A Bug Hunter's Diary' you can then go through a browser and look for bugs (assuming you know C). There's also this: http://howto.hackallthethings.com/2016/07/learning-exploitation-with-offensive.html
If you don't know C get K&R and read this book:
http://csapp.cs.cmu.edu/ which will teach you assembly (for later reverse engineering), how pointers actually work at the hardware level, how VMs work, floating point ect.
If you finish that CS:APP book then try memorycorruption.com challenges, if you finish them then print up your resume and apply to NCC Group as a Jr Consultant or another security outfit like Crowdstrike as Jr analyst and work your way up.
