The i5 6600k is still relatively cheap for what it does and it can be overclocked to ridiculous speeds and remain cool.

taking the 6300 in 2017 would be a big mistake even if it's cheap

I've had FX6300 for 3 years and it's still playing everything. Wouldn't get one now, though.
