Why has Google been steadily killing off reverse image search?
Plug any image into Google these days and all you get is garbage.

It used to be top tier and could take a 32x32 thumbnail and show you the world.
Scraping metadata was a breeze.
Now you put in a specific person and get stock photos and search recommendations for "guy"
However it recognizes porn, it's astoundingly good at it and quick to come back empty handed.

I think their deep learning algorithm is going through some growing pains, making the results wonky
