It's mainly because no icon pack creator can actually keep up with every single app that releases. And therefore they have to rely on their own customers to tell them what to create, and those same customers expect an icon update in the same day.

They're great if all you care about is using icons for specific apps on your homescreen that are already relatively popular, but if you want an icon pack to be thoroughly consistent throughout your phone, that will never happen sadly.

So many great icon packs, it all depends on what you want out of it. Like Lines Free is beautiful and should fit right in to your black and white theme so far. Min would also work.
Maybe you want a pop of colour and so Click UI is great.
Plenty of options, find something you like in the play store, all of them have 'icon pack' in the title anyways making them super easy to find.

You can install goodlock on top of nova, it doesn't even change the homescreen which is nova's job. Goodlock only makes your notifications and status bar more stock like, that way it looks less like touchjizz.
