What is the purpose of the 7R & 8R ports on a WebSmart switch
Thanks
Femanon here.
I think those ports have reduced throughput or bandwidth.
R stands for Reduced.
Routed port?

They share with the SFP ports. If you use SFP's, then you can't use the corresponding ports (7 and 8)

So if I'm not using the SFP ports then it is fine to use 7R and 8R as normal?
What is the actual point of them?

Correct. Use 7 and 8 like normal if you're not using SFPs. Whatever arch they're uising limited them to 8 so to allow usage of SFPs, they had to share out two ports. No biggie if that's all you need...

Oh the point. If you require the use of fiber, you'd use the SFPs. Or specialized copper interconnects in SFP format.
Thank you all so much
