I'm a line cook at a well-reviewed French-Canadian restaurant.

I love the kitchen life.

Always trading food for drinks from the bar. Closing down a shitty night with a beer is always the best feeling.

Being with your homies when its 5 minutes to close and having a 8/10/15 top all walk in at the same fucking time.

The feels when you come in and the guy before hasn't done shit all for prep or even fucking cleaned/refilled/flipped a goddamn thing for you. 911s out the ass and doing everything on the fly just to close and leave it better than the ass fuck who left it for you.

Constantly talking shit to everyone around, head out to the bar after close just to drink and talk more shit.

Industry has my heart and I don't think of doing anything else.

The people I work with are my brothers and sisters. I wouldn't want to go through the weeds with anyone else. Bonded by blood and flame.
>>
>>58310898
me too. i failed for the college trap but got smart and left after two years. zero debt since my parents where paying. even though i had a free ride, i was going for a general history degree. my job prospects? well, very little history positions, but many low skilled, $15 - $17 clerical work. yeah, no thanks. i didn't want to waste my parents money nor did i want a get into debt over that otherwise.

been thinking of going to community for some certs or apply to a few warehouses near by... both the certs i want and the warehouse can land me a similar paying job as above with the fancy bachelors. but, so far, just enjoying being a neet. 27 and been out of school for four years and jobless for a year. retail is horrible and i don't want to go back.

I don't get it. Why American pay over expensive education?
> you either pay a fortune to enter a big uni like MIT or Harvard, being certain that your salary will overcome your dept in few years
> you either go abroad in a free uni and have a degree for cheaper. You may not have a "free way life ticket" degree from there but neither would you should you stay in a meh over expensive domestic uni.
Why would anyone get 5 digits debt AND a degree that would not ensure this debt would be quickly paid back?

However, if you are paying a fortune to get a degree from a uni that will not give you certainty you'll not struggle to repay the loan, why do it?
It's more advantageous to go abroad, get a degree there for cheaper, and then maybe comeback to work.
It's both a cheaper and safer solution.

High end colleges aren't for everyone, and at the same time aren't necessary.
If you can afford going to one, that's great and you'll get great things out of it, but if you can't, there's nothing wrong with a cheaper state university.

Having said that, there are garbage state universities in every system and you need to balance that.

>>58315834
I forgot to mention. Those high end schools, where each class works out to $3000 of your tuition? Yeah, they're worth the money. You may find that your bargain state school classes are disappointing. I work on a strategy team at a very large global bank in NYC

Job is pretty shit, but I'd rather be here earning what I do (I earn more than my either of my parents and I'm only 23) than be a IB slave

My workplace use the kind of "unix philosophy": you work in one position and you do that one well. We have dedicated cashiers, projectionists, janitors, ticket guys and catering.

That being said, this is a state-owned "art"cinema, not a multiplex.

>>58316356
that sounds much better

You didn't learn shit in college because you didn't apply yourself. Self learning is key, university is just there to build the foundation.

I work as a technical analyst consulting.
I worked like a dog in a grocery store and commuted from home in a shitty salvaged car instead of dorming while at university. I paid as much as I could with what I saved, only taking out a couple loans along the way. When I graduated I had ~$3000 in loans and about the same amount saved up. So I guess I graduated from university debt free.

Don't be so naive.
1. Fuck stigma, stop being a bitch that's swayed by stigma.
2. The only time that a bachelor's makes ANY difference, is if you are doing consulting type work and have to critique the work of PhD's or other proffesional. They won't listen because they are fucking arrogant.

Seriously, I can tell your a NEET based on the fact that you attribute personal problems to society. Take responsibility for your self, become successful, and then help lift up the people around you. Stop being societies bitch faggot.

I program implementations for industrial machines. Like not making the motors, but programming them and the logic needed for a specific task.

It's kind of niche work for smaller companies. Large ones will just work with the company for the hardware, but we can undercut really well for specific custom tasks like belts, scanners, and cool robot arms. Pay is good for a college dropout / near highschool-failure.
Field is growing, so I'd definitely suggest getting into stuff like PLC programming.

this reminds me somehow of my prev job - vending machines for pharmacies, which is a big thing here in europe, and going to be getting much bigger. Also kind of vending machines for factories - mainly used for rubber gloves and other safety equipment - eveyr worker has to identify himself with his RFID card, can choose according to his profile and size.. bla bla. 25 - 30% saves/optimizations of the product are seen every time. Then comes automatic reporting, SAP/VMI integration and a lot more! Also, the package/delivery pickup locations are gaining speed, the same devices can be used to handle special equipment in factories, just with another software and again with RFID and barcodes and shit. The whole Industry 4.0 shit is going to explode in the near future, too bad the dumb management can't do shit and made the good guys quit.
