Why aren't you using Void GNU/Linux yet?

>no systemd
>base install is completely Free as in Freedom
>maintained by the community
>rolling release
>KISS
>great package manager
>uses NSA-free LibreSSL
>can use musl, a bloat-free glibc
>you can build your packages from source if you wish
>contributing new packages is super easy

I jumped ship from Arch, and so should you.
>>
>no systemd
into the trash it goes

Sounds too good.
Whats the kernel version?
Can u use libre kernel?
>>
aVoid
>>
>>58304960
Do you mean trashctl?
Enjoy your bloatd.

>>58304969
>Whats the kernel version?
4.8.15_1 currently.
>Can u use libre kernel?
I don't know.
>>
Too much trouble to install. But is better than Arch.
>>
>>58305225
>Too much trouble to install
You fucking what? It takes 10 minutes max.

It's rolling release but they use very old packages.
For example Cinnamon is 2.6 in Void and 3.2 is the latest release.

>floating windows
Have you considered killing yourself?

But does it have an AUR?

I need encrypt my disk and use lvm.

That's because Cinnamon depends on gnome libs which in turn depend more and more on systemd. Still, it's available now.

Thanks senpai. I'll give it another try.

what is the right choice

thats why

>Arch is a meme OS
>Void is quite unknown even among Linux users
>Debian is used a lot to base other distros on because of their choices on how to run the OS and dev base. Stable but old packages unless you run Testing/Unstable. IMO Fedora is easier and more usable as a desktop if you want recent software. (muh gaymes)
>Fedora has more recent packages than Debian, but is not as bleeding edge as Arch. Their default install (Gnome) is the most polished one out there. The repos are a lot better maintained than Ubuntu, but you will need to add the RPMFusion repo for nonfree software (e.g. Steam, proprietary Nvidia)
>Ubuntu is great if you like their defaults, but is a pain in the arse as soon as you wish to change some things.

Debian for desktop if you want a stable OS. Fedora if you want newer versions of software (gaming).

i don't use floating tho, only to take the screenshot so i can show off my gurren lagann wallpaper senpai

void has very few packages because maintainers are pretty selective. but it's pretty much curated by /g/tier autists so most of the programs you want to use like cmus and zathura are there. compiling a few things from scratch isn't a problem with me. i like runit a lot and it's the most robust init system, i think, besides openrc. i can understand systemd for larger systems with more complex, enumerated routines like big raid arrays but for the everyday driver like my workstation and my memepad, runit and openrc are far superior solutions.

Is this distribution as epic as pic related?
If so I might actually try it.

P.S.
Fuck systemd heresy!

Good man.

>no systemd
Makes sense. sysmemed is really buggy piece of mess.
>base install is completely Free as in Freedom
Same goes to Fedora
>maintained by the community
As long as no one tries to nail my freedomz, commercial company as maintainer is just fine. Red Hat does their job well.
>rolling release
Fedora rawhide, google it.
>KISS
Its not KISS as long writing build instructions relies on human from flesh and blood.
>great package manager
That you can install and use in any other GNU/Linux distribution.
>uses NSA-free LibreSSL
Don't say you either don't use SELinux just because "muh NSA botnet".
>can use musl, a bloat-free glibc
>The only one real performance advantage over glibc is byte-by-byte UTF-8 decoding
Lol.
>you can build your packages from source if you wish
Same goes for any GNU/Linux distro
>contributing new packages is super easy
But packages that aren't reached "stable" state are prohibited. Fuck this shit. Will rather use Fedora copr.
>>
because gentoo exists.
using libressl as well. its top tier.

>worst tiling wm
>terminal emulator that breaks loads of standards and can't into wide width characters
no.
