What is the best language and why is it node.js?

Im having a hard time naming a more cancerous combo of software than npm+node+electron
NPM works about 20 percent of the time throwing cryptic error messages.
Electron is like squeezing a turd into a picture frame and calling it a standalone desktop """"app""""
Node runs painfully slow on lower end hardware despite being marketed as lightweight and efficent. It has shit multicore support.
Use Python Golang or even Lua

npm works for me like 99% of the time
are you sure you're using the latest version?
never had efficiency problems with node but you should really only use it for lightweight I/O applications. anything processor heavy should be done with something else.

Why does this exist? Because web devs don't want to part with JavaScript?
>>58305121
I was using it on a raspi.
originally a got npm+node from apt but after 20+ errors on everthing i need i compiled them from source. It took fucking ages. Even after that it still didnt work so i said fuck it and switched to golang.

node is a great VM (made by people of Smalltalk fame) stuck with a really shitty language (Javascript)
>>58304941
>spawned out of the asshole of frontend webdevs that can't write code
> the best language
i shiggy diggy

what's wrong with javascript?

>Node
>Language
Kys yourself
>>58305136
In the original talk by Joyent, he basically said he needed a language that allowed function objects to use as callbacks, that's basically why.
That in combination with the event-driven nature of V8 allowed him to develop a simple runtime that was nonblocking.

anon, please.
>>58305393
You can't do autismal embedded development in it, so it sucks.
