if you can get this emulator working on a linux distro released in the last 6 months you will be a god among men.

What the hell is the problem you just compile the package

dependencies. it's like a skill test.
it's pretty easy if you're using something good like gentoo.
>>58301595
i lied. just wanted to sound cool. the truth is i can't get it working on kubuntu 16.10.
i feel pretty embarrassed even though i've only had linux for a few days. if this was any other forum but 4chan i would kill myself before admitting it.

GTK 2.6+
OpenGL drivers with EXT_framebuffer_object or GLX PBuffer support. Currently this means either the ATI or NVidia binary drivers.
No acces to linux machine here but what is the real problem? What have you tried? What went wrong.
>>58301496
Debian be like: https://wiki.debian.org/lxdream
Have you tried windows emulators in wine? In my experience they even beat native ports.
>>58301883
i just want to get it working in linux for fun

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
lxdream : Depends: libpng12-0 (>= 1.2.13-4) but it is not installable
Recommends: libaudiofile0 (>= 0.2.3-4) but it is not installable
Recommends: libesd0 (>= 0.2.35) but it is not going to be installed or
libesd-alsa0 (>= 0.2.35) but it is not installable
You need to replace all the instances of #include <glib.h> to get it to compile.
I was going to but then I realized how many godamn files you would need to edit.
>>58301996
how do i go about doing this? is it in the source file?
Retroarch is about to support Dreamcast OP. Actually it does right now but is in beta.
>>58302005
If you run make it basically tells you exactly whats wrong with the code.
Yes, in the source files.https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gentoo/gentoo/master/games-emulation/lxdream/files/lxdream-0.9.1-glib-single-include.patch
Here is a patch from the portage tree that will get it to compile against the newer glib.
>>58302025
i have retroarch installed and working. but i want to get lxdream working, just because. i know it's stupid. but i want to.
>>58302030
> replace all the instances of #include <glib.h>
how do i do this? can you edit one and show me a screenshot of how to do it.
in the source is it every line called #include <glib.h> what do i replace it with?
>>58302030
From your unpacked source directory do patch -p1 < lxdream-0.9.1-glib-single-include.patch
>>58301996
What is sed?

Isn't a simple search and replace.

Great contribution but there really isn't a reason to use a trip code right now. This is an anonymous board.

i don't know if my source code is unpacked. i tried ./configure to compile it but i get this messages:
http://pastebin.com/aTYE5wQL
what does "unpacked" mean. is it unpacked when i download the source and unzip?
>>58302101
Literally tells you exactly what you are missing.
Use your package manager to install package-cfg and run it again.
If it errors out again then install the next thing it tells you its missing.
>>58302127
okay sorry. i'll try again. thanks for the help.

i fucked up. it was pkg-config. thanks again anon. now i need lib-png or some shit. progress!
> No package 'libpng' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBPNG_CFLAGS
and LIBPNG_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

>>58302407
Seems like Debian is quite hard to use.
hehehe, no but honestly I have no idea what packages you need I don't use Debian. Maybe someone else can help you.
>>58302441
what linux are you using?
can you actually run lxdream and show me a screenshot?

Yeah it works, bitches about not having some dcboot.rom and dcflash.rom and I don't have any games to test it with.

i'm inspired to install gentoo because of this. i honestly thought it was just a meme up until now.
>>58302542

seriously though how do i get this?
lol does dreamcast even have any good games?
>>58302875
i don't want to play the games. i just want to play with the emulator. also no, dreamcast games are shit for the most part. shenmue is kind of cool i guess, but everything else that was worth a damn either got ported and "enhanced" or had a way better sequel come out (e.g. jet set radio future on xbox vs jet grind radio on dreamcast)
i just want to get this working for the heck of it.
