This might be a really stupid question so forgive me but, if say I have brought an electoral device from Japan like Japanese only mobile. Can I instead of having to buy a UK adaptor for the charger can I just use an usb charger like in this photo?
No, Japanese phones only charge on Japanese electricity so you'll have to use an adaptor to convert UK electricity into Japanese electricity for your phone

yep
The Japanese use DC for everything, including USB, whereas the rest of the world uses AC
You need to look on eBay for a Japan to World upstep 4 phase electrolytic capacitor

You'll need to buy this

If it's a USB charging port on the electoral device then sure. USB has standardized voltage so it's no problem.

disregard the cunty edgelords, get whatever adapter you want, just check on how much power it delivers. Some phones/tablets use over 2A or 2.1A to properly charge. Check that the output on whatever charger you get is actually the same amperage. Some chargers only output 1A or sometimes even less than that.

Thank you the Japanese USB wall charger is DC5V 1.5A so something the same UK style should work fine?

Of course

>he doesn't know Japan uses DC for everything
Japan uses DC.
If you're not faint of heart you can cut off a USB cord, strip the red and black wire (green and yellow are data, these should be twisted together to promote fast charging) and directly put them into a Japanese wall socket. |R|ed wire goes to the |R|ight. B|l|ack to the |l|eft. Easy peasy.
