I'm using FreeNAS 9 stable on my home server for a shitload of stuff and the 10.0 release is coming up with major changes
>plugins no longer jails, but awesome Docker containers
>UI no longer looks like it was designed in 2002
Anyone use this beta yet? How is it in terms of backward compatibility and stability (considering it's a beta)?
The ui seems like a nice improvement over the previous one. Where I can download the beta?

Roadmap looks pretty good.

From what I am reading since the plugins and addons are going to a docker system nothing from 9 is going to migrate correctly
It definitely is a huge step forward for the platform and puts it right up or past competitors like unraid
Why use it over open media vault?
>>58300283
Yeah, I was seriously considering going with unraid just because of Docker, there's just so much more you can do with it, and it's so much easier. Maybe jails are ok for some FreeBSD admins, but for my use cases, I vastly prefer Docker, especially since I use it a lot at work too.

OMV is too babby, based on debian and the plugins have no extensibility, even the home page says it's made for non-power users.
FreeNAS has a lot more features for power users + FreeBSD underneath, which gives you ZFS, the greatest filesystem in the world.
>>58300285
well, freenas is more mature and has proper support from ixsystems, and you have zfs
>>58300285
If you want a Linux based alternative, just go with UnRAID because of Docker and the community support.

OpenMediaVault is still better than FreeNAS
>>58300406
no, it's not
>>58300465
yes, it is
>>58300468
I can't tell if your samefagging or literally too fucking retarded to give a reason why it's better.
>>58300468
Why? I'm genuinely curious
>>58300505
he's just retarded
