Even with quotation marks, it searches for other things. The only time I ever used them was to avoid a majority of totally irrelevant results, and now it's what I'm getting either way. Seems a recent problem.

Meh. Here's the perspective of someone who interviewed at Google and didn't get in. I have some older friends that work there that explain shit to me.

There's hundreds of internal projects and you spend a lot of time figuring out which one you want to do/assigned to do.

Google's internal codebase is massive so about the first 6 months working there is just being caught up to speed/learning necessary shit to work on the project you're assigned to.

There's a very distinct group mentality and as a result you don't necessarily get a uniform office culture. Its a very disjointed environment. There's a very good fucking reason you see similar Google products that are basically reinventing the wheel. (Google talk, hangouts, allo).

They don't just hire from top CS schools. They hire from everywhere provided you have autismo grades and read "cracking the coding interview" and are able to bullshit something in notepad. It's a retarded vetting process that sees kids who just took their senior level algo class pass the technical round of the interview.

If you want to work at google get in touch with your local uni compsci club and find out if any alumni work there and get in touch and ask what kind of classes helped them out the most. Google is interested what kind of classes you take and will give you a massive leg up when it comes to getting by the phone interview.
