Hey /g/, my laptop just died on me, need a new one. I am a college senior. My budget is $1000, and I need:
>512GB or higher storage (or a laptop that allows me to add storage of my own)
>Good specs (for light games like TF2 and Overwatch, along with DS emulation)
>8GB RAM (for college work)
What I want:
>No bigger than 15" (because I want it to be portability)
Which laptop would be best for my needs?

the 512GB, Touchbar, 13" version is $2000. The 15" ones are more expensive then that.
>Overwatch
Overwatch doesn't have a macOS version.

Grow up from games and a Thinkpad would be perfect.

Don't thinkpads have Windows on them though? Also, which thinkpad model would you recommend in my case?

Of course but they can be hackintoshed easily and are very compatible with Linux distros.
I'd say a T420/T430 since you can expand the ram to 16gb, upgrade the cpu and use 3 drives simultaneously on them since you wanted storage.
X220/X230 if you want the same laptop but in 12" instead of 14"

Why would I want to hackintosh it? Give me one good reason why I should. I'm already planning on dualbooting Linux on it, why should I install macOS instead of Linux?

None whatsoever. Linux/Windows dual-boot is fine.
