My most used trackers are for niche shit (asian shows etc) which do not show up on public trackers.
With videos and shit they are good for finding better quality torrents than you can get off public trackers. Just today I dled two movies and a TV show and only the TV show had a decent quality public version, the two movies I had to get off private trackers otherwise I would have been stuck with 3GB "1080p" pieces of shit.
For other things like games and books it is mostly just convenience. Easier to find it all in one place and more likely to find older/less popular stuff that has seeds.
