I have a sweet new backpack, and it has all these little padded compartments for delicate tech gear. But I don't have much portable tech gear I carry around, so it feels like a waste.
What tech do you carry around, /g/?
For me I only have:
>Thinkpad
>2 spare Thinkpad batteries
>external wireless dongle (for packet injection etc)
>3 pairs of cheap, expendable earphones
>phone
>phone charger
>small telescope
>flashlight

>all these little padded compartments
if it's the image you posted, that's a photographer backpack. like obviously it's a free country and you can do whatever you want, but you'll look like a tool carrying it around, and i guarantee you're more likely to get it stolen. i go out and shoot occasionally and i would avoid a bag that screams that i've got camera gear in it (all the more so if i don't even have camera gear)
>2 spare batteries
your everyday carry is enough battery capacity to go ~2 days?
>3 pairs of cheap earphones
seriously this is your everyDAY carry? when i travel i only take 1 pair with me. what happens that you need a backup for a backup?
>phone charger
you mean cable? USB battery pack? both?
>small telescope
what? why? like really what is the purpose?
in my bag:
- laptop
- planner and notebook (i'm giving the planner a try, but logging redundant google calendar stuff is going to be annoying for a bit)
- pens pens pens
- noise canceling earbuds
- a lightning cable
sometimes i'll throw my wallet, phone, and keys in there if i'm just heading to the office. if i'm going someplace else, i like keeping emergency stuff (like an ID and phone) actually on me in case something catastrophic happens (e.g. someone grabs my bag).
In my bag:
>XPS 13
>Thinkpad x230
>Rhodia notebook
>Graphgear 1000 .5mm
>Pilot Metropolitan
>ATH M50 headphones
>1L Nalgene
>Anker PowerCore II 20000
>Respective chargers
In pockets:
>Keyring: 64GB flash drive (w/ built in micro OTG), Yubikey Neo, keys (duh), Pentium IV heatspreader
>RFID-blocking wallet
>LG V10
>Ballpoint pen
>Tiny notebook
Misc:
>Bike helmet
>Bike shoes
I bike to work, so I carry all that on my back most days. I'll usually only take one laptop for travelling, depending on what I'm doing. I've got great thighs ;)
