Is Void Linux a good distro for Desktop or is only a meme?

Last time I checked, gcc version was 4.8

I've used it on the desktop for about 6 months now. It's great.

Everything is fast, packages are reasonable (at least it doesn't run random unsigned code like the AUR does) and there's no systemd in sight.

The version with musllibc isn't that great right now, but it shows promise.

It's actually nice.
I like BSD and I think it btfo linux in every way except a few things it can't do (kvm virtualization passthrough and a few other things I don't use). Which is why I still use linux.

Voidlinux is the most BSDesque of all the distros I've used, yes, even gentoo and slackware (both complete messes if you compare it to FreeBSD, but let's not even get into that). Not a lot of packages though, I don't use many things, so the things I can't find are usually easily compiled.

Takes a bit of extra time to set it up due to manual compilation of some software, but fuck me if it's package manager isn't extremely fucking fast. The boot time is faster then any kernel I've self compiled, I've no idea how they managed to do this sub 6 sec boot time magic on an old hard drive... but they did and I'm pleased.

I don't even mind rebooting after kernel upgrades anymore, it's just so fuckign fast I don't notice it.
