No harm in having an account I suppose, but it's mainly stuff for musicians though. 2)See above for all *wares

3)If an IP address is access to private information, you give that out to every website you visit. Better stop using the internet.

Why are there so many rules surrounding private trackers? Why must I remember subtle differences between seeding rules on various trackers just to not get banned instantly?

I just want access to high quality audio and video that can't be found on public trackers, that's literally it.

It's the tool that's used to re-encode the video.

It doesn't really make much sense to tag them as such though. Imagine how dumb the following would look like:
Movie.1080p.x264.neroAacEnc.AviSynth.MKVToolNix.mkv

They should just label it as H.264.

I'm not new to torrents, I can seed properly and tag correctly.
I've developed my own torrent client, and I understand the bittorrent protocol reasonably well.

I don't have a problem with the technical aspect of torrenting, but private trackers just seem to add layers and layers of politics and autism that make it really hard to download anything.

It has reached the point where sometimes it feels that XDCC is a step above private trackers in content and quality.

Why has nobody attempted to fix this?
>>
>>58276647
are you retarded
every tracker is the same
>get torrent
>seed for 72 hours
>done
most people just permaseed anyway
all the autism can be avoided by just not using the forums and interacting with anyone
dickhead
>>
>>58276647
Why are the public trackers with hundreds of millions of users inferior to private trackers with 20-30k? I mean, public trackers should be awesome since they make torrenting so easy, right?
>>
>>58276570
So,
h.264 / AVC with x264 video codec != x264
When I use x264 in the second half, I refer to the 'Compression' encode
That's so fucking confusing. This whole time I always thought of x264 as the compressed encode
>>
>>58276551
Where? On PTP they're marked properly as H.264.
>>
>>58276689
I see what you did there anon
>>
>>58276686
That doesn't seem to apply for many ebook trackers and trackers with a hard ratio economy.
>>
>>58276647
Do yourself a favour and stick with kat if you don't like it. It's interesting you don't want to put up with private tracker autism when you're sperging out with posts like this.
>>
wtf are power users and elites begging for snatches in the 'we'll grab your unsnatched uploads' thread ffs?
>>
>>58276752
what are you fucking talking about now
>>
>>58276705
H.264 is a video compression standard. x264 is an open source implementation for encoding video via H.264.

Encoders use x264 to encode video sourced from Blu-Ray, WEB-RIP, HDTV, etc.

Remuxes don't encode the video from Blu-Ray, so they should be marked as H.264, because x264 isn't used.
>>
>>58276763
But kat is shit even for public standards
>>
>>58276714
I view NFO files of h.264 remuxes and they show:
Video codec: x264 (high level or something like that)
This is very confusing to me
>>
>>58276765
yeah, that's horse shit. some of them have hundreds of GB of buffer.

thread should be restricted to user or member class
>>
>>58276765
That thread is terrible and no one actually snatches anymore.
>>
>>58276763
I'm not "sperging out", friend, just explaining what I meant to say.

If you think I was "sperging out", you have bigger issues to deal with than spilling your autism on private trackers.
>>
>>58276788
>NFO
Where, there you go. That's Scene for you. They probably just copy/paste the NFO between releases and forget to change things.

The H.264 standard is used for all Blu-Rays, but x264 is only used when someone encodes the video beyond that

Either you're really fucking dense or you're just baiting right now.

It's mind boggling you've somehow managed to make logical sense out of a dilemma that is mutually exclusive. And then you say you can't deal with tracker autism when this is the most absurd argument I've ever seen anyone make.

Here's the dilemma:
>You can have torrents without tracker autism but you sacrifice quality
>You can have torrents with quality but you have tracker autism

You can only pick ONE.

Have a better idea? Then start your own private tracker or service that attempts to tackle this. Or stick with XDCC, I don't give a shit buddy.

And yes I'm fucking mad. You come in here, make the most bait worthy posts I've ever seen. Then say, "well I'm just explaining my thought process, obviously it's YOU that has a problem if your brain can't comprehend this logical mess I've just made"

Hello everyone, I just need to vent. I have a big problem with furry porn addiction for about 7 years. When I discovered it, I felt disgusted and ashamed, but this didn't stop me to look for more images and finally it became sexually attractive for me. 'Normal' porn is not a problem, I can live without it, but furry porn has something that keeps me coming back for more and more images, even if I saw 'everything' and feel exhausted. I like also gay furry porn even though I'm straight. I'm not a part of this fandom, my only interaction is watching porn. Is quitting furry porn more difficult than normal porn and process of quitting is different? Is there anybody with the same problem?

I'm afraid to log into NoS with my home IP address. There must be others like me.What are you doing to ensure that member IP addresses won't be leaked again?

You mean, are there members there who use auto-snatchers? Yes, there must be, because when I recently uploaded some movies released this year there were instantly about 15 leechers.

I've always been about the music. Another discussion we've had on my podcast as well. While it's great to have faster downloads available due to seedboxes, we want to be more user-centric, while still offering extra incentive to those power users who have seed boxes. 'more about the music' is something i'm on board with. As a user, I've always felt trackers we're more about winning in some power user game rather than sharing and downloading media in that respect.
I'm totally there with you, and we want to design NoS' bonus point system with that in mind

Well, I certainly learned a lot from the fiasco we went through, and I've taken steps to ensure that no staff member has access to any sensitive information as well as extra server security, which I owe to sysops on other trackers who have a wealth of experience i've been lucky enough to learn from. I've also seen the Mozilla scores going around, which we're working on as well. In a way, we're probably a lot more secure now than we ever would have been if things went smoothly the first time around. It was a good learning experience. Thanks for the opportunity to clear that up for anyone

- Prove access to a decent CD/vinyl collection by sending relevant photos. They are mandatory.
- Provide a listing of their intended first 30 uploads. You do not have to upload that much in the two weeks, but you have
to show that you know how to rip and upload, and what you will want to upload later on.
- Provide relevant photos of their vinyl setup (if applicable), plus a detailed description of your process.
- Not be from a Site blacklisted country (currently: AE, DZ, BR, EG, IR, IQ, IL, JO, KW, OM, PK, QA, SA, SY, TN, TR and RU)

A Prospective Uploader account:
- Expires after 2 weeks if not promoted to another class. Then the system will simply erase the account.
- Cannot download torrents larger than 1GB.
- Cannot download more than 5GB.
- Cannot dip below ratio of 0.5. The moment this happens the account is automatically erased from the system.
- To prevent awkward abuse and shenanigans, cannot donate to the Site.

Thank you.
I really appreciate the kind words.
Such is the nature of these things.
I'm not asking for a pity party, but it's a shame how things went down from the beginning and with more recent events, which I'm sure a good number of you are aware of. I did not see that coming.
>>

>doesn't mean you've won an argument

How fucking thick can you get
There isn't an argument to begin with, because you can't form a counterargument to a childish rant.

Again, try actually backing up your rant or don't bother replying.

>"t-they're mutually exclusive!"
>why?
>"b-because i said so!"

does this greentext get the point across?
>>
>>58278294
>>58278381
It's mutually exclusive in the fact you can't have one without the other. I think I've already made that abundantly clear. Private trackers have absurd rules about seeding at the detriment of casual users. However, if you go lax on rules and bureaucracy, you also lose the infrastructure that allows for the curation of a library full of quality content. Remove the rules and tracker politics, and you end up with a mess of torrents like the pirate bay that cannot be trumped or removed because there isn't any infrastructure that dictates whether or not bad torrents should be removed in the first place.

Again, you remove the incentive for users that like that added bureaucracy to contribute content and the bureaucracy that also allows for torrents to be curated, and you also remove the selection of quantity and quality from private trackers.

Anyway, I think I'm done defending myself desu. I don't really care if you want to bother replying or not.
>>
>>58278666
>I think I've already made that abundantly clear
Not really, since you still haven't explained your reasoning for thinking this.

>However, if you go lax on rules and bureaucracy, you also lose the infrastructure that allows for the curation of a library full of quality content.
>end up with a mess of torrents like the pirate bay that cannot be trumped or removed because there isn't any infrastructure that dictates whether or not bad torrents should be removed in the first place
This has been shown false time and time again.

Hint: You're conflating upload and tagging rules with ratio rules.

You don't have to bother replying, since you've made it "abundantly clear" that you're a complete moron and have never actually used a private tracker, because if you actually did, you would understand how draconian upload/tagging rules are a good thing, and how draconian ratio rules are a bad thing, and not lump them into one "rules and bureaucracy" category.
>>
>>58278761
Retention is garbage on public trackers. Old torrents end up with 0 seeders. Ratio rules are an attempt to make sure everything is well seeded. No one wastes their seedbox on a public tracker.
>>
How often does the PTP class script run
>>
>>58278830
I'm not arguing for removing all ratio rules, just that many trackers stack the odds against new members (even when considering that many good trackers allow new members to have a lower ratio).

If a certain community gathers enough high-quality content (with upload/tagging rules), they can make do with lax ratio rules. For example, changing the minimum ratio required based on the percent of your downloaded torrents that are being seeded and giving abundant bonus upload credit just for seed time, rather than having a hard ratio requirement for download.
>>
>>58278942
Marked
>>
>>58278959
Different types of content benefits from different rules. Even on hard ratio trackers, it does not take much effort to be /setforlyfe/.
>>
>>58278942
It should be instant.

Uploads don't count towards your number of uploads until they're approved by staff.
