Just bought a windows 7 pro disc off of newegg, and they key is fake. Microsoft said oh well and newegg is not going to help.
What should i do now? is it OK to have a version of windows that is not Genuine?

Assuming you purchased from Newegg and not a third party reseller, the key you got was genuine, but it's only an upgrade key.

You're going to want to try the RegEdit method. I did it on 3 machines back in the day and it worked fine every single time.

This is of course assuming you have a legit key, it's just a legit upgrade key.

Hijacking. I have a legit win 7 OEM license from an HP computer but the motherboard is completely toast and no longer posts at all. Is it possible to use that license on a other computer somehow?

OEM licenses are usually tied to the motherboard. You'd need to contact windows support to unlock your license and they probably wont do that.

Enjoy the spyware, being forced to restart your pc for updates if you delay it too much, bloatware that runs in the background, etc. The only thing that's been confirmed to be removable is the spyware that eats your ram but it can also download itself through updates, which are mandatory. You cannot hold off an update for too long because win10 will eventually install and restart without your consent. Have fun losing all your work when it says it MUST restart in 10 seconds
