It was literally so bad that I have seen no performance increase coming from a 1,8GHz Core 2 Duo to a 3,6GHz Phenom II X4 there (and no, that game was 90% CPU-bound). The korean codemonkey "devs" of said game never bothered to do anything about this.
This was by no means AMD's fault. Everything else is performing excellently.

Amd's response is gcn 1.0 can have major issues with async, but didn't delve into details.
If it's true, it would be nice to still have the option to toggle it, with it off by default.

I've only owned 3 cards so far, a 7870ghz, 270x (fell for the crossfire meme), and a fury.

Its a hardware glitch on the GCN 1.0 ACEs. Silicon that was made for internal testing and proof of concept never intended to be actually used. Similar to the tessellators on the HD48XX series. AMD really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I actually bought a mid-range consumer-grade multimedia/gaming laptop with a amd r7 card innit.

it runs 4-5 year old games in 1080p around 30fps just perfectly.

of course it's for 15-20 minutes gaming sessions because it throttles the gpu after that in order to protect the laptop from overheaing (it's actually a neat feature) so it drops frames to around 15-20, but you shouldn't be playing games for more than 15 mintues at a time anyway because you risk contracting epilepsy or damaging your eyes.

yes, the drivers crash sometimes but it's not a big problem you just use DDU to remove the drivers (can't remove through control panel, windows erorrs out [stupid windows]) and install them fresh and you should be good.

and also the fan can get pretty loud but again, that's a feature. just crank the game audio up x2 and you should barely hear it.

all in all, despite the minor flaws, amd makes great cards and I highly recommend them.

I got memed into buying radeons back when it was still ran under ATI. It was what I expected from cheap hardware. Did good on benchmarks, but it didn't have the reliability of all my other Nvidia GPUs. If I tried to use it for anything other than gaymen it was subpar. From what I've seen enabling vsync to prevent nasty amounts of screen tearing results in a noticeable increase in latency which puts you back at square one. I'd like to see freesync/gsync in person to see if it really solves these issues as well as advertised, though.
