What simple gui text editor do you like best?
>not for programming or document making
I like leafpad because it's a notepad clone and does what it's supposed to.

Pluma with mate desktop is not bad I guess. I hardly ever use it.
vim

Notepad on Windows so you don't look autistic

Mr. Bond is right on Linux though
K A T E!
and vim probably
Geany and Atom depending on what I need at the time.

Notepad++ on Windows, leafpad on Linux.
The answer should not be vim, because that means switching hands just to view files and make quick modifications or cutting. It's not efficient.

Textadept, works for programming, but it's also nice as a simple notepad

any decent VIM/terminal emulator setup will respond correctly to a scroll wheel
I use and absolutely love Geany, Its also a basic IDE that works great. Some others Ive messed with are notepad++, Sublime Text 3, Atom. But if youre programming Id highly recommend Geany

These. Not gEdit, because it's a bloated, bugged piece of shit.
Potentially: Notepadqq once it's more advanced.

emacs

WordGrinder. It's for document making I suppose, but I only use this and Vim. Fite me IRL.
