You see ? Apple make people actually innovate and think.

They want people to be ingenious, now tell me, how did m$ and any linux distro improved anything ?

Go to Amazon. And search USB Type C hub.

It already exists and there's a fuck ton.

It looks like it is a dock that emulates the look of the laptop.
It looks great, but I don't think it is a good business strategy.
If the size of the dock is off by a fraction, it makes it an awful experience and this means the next gen macbooks cannot use this.
So you have to make a model for each macbook.

Needing a additional hub to make a mac non shit.

Seriously.
The moment i have seen the
>Oh its so thin macs
I knew they are shit, complete utter and useless shit!
You need the thickness to have more ports.

The moment you need to buy a external hub to make this peace of shit not shit you KNOW apple is retarded and out of touch with reality.

So why are you apple fags buying this apple shit?
So you plug into it a crap ton of hubs and adapters to make it less shit and in the process make it look like some cluster fuck of ugly? You like your desk cluttered with a frankensteinien abomination of garbage?

Pictured how your mac crap looks after you add more hubs to make it less shit.

I know this is ironic, but if you don't want to have options, then don't use them. They're options.

I don't understand why people keep posting all of these photos with 3-4 accessories plugged into the new MacBook and then claiming how messy it looks.

ANY laptop is going to look messy with that many things plugged into it at once. If anything, the MacBook will look cleaner because the hub will be able to hold all of the ports from one Thunderbolt cord, instead of having stuff coming out of both sides of your laptop.

Show me a laptop that could do pic related, and not look like a clusterfuck of shit.

Yes, by throttling your connection speed. Enjoy the future where you have 56k connection quality between peripherals in Starbucks.

>When was the last time your cellphone got bad reception because you were in a space with too many people?

I have been to plenty of events where cellphones don't work because of too many people. If I turn off data, I get basic texting and calling and no internet, but my phone works again.
>>
>>58245130
I'd say it's more like:
Dig up device with hub still attached (why remove it when you stop using the device if you're going to need it next time?) -> Plug the hub in -> Works

Still, most of the time when you use anything bigger than a USB thumb drive you're going to be using a desk and at a desk you're probably going to use a monitor, which if it has a USBtypeC connector, lets you do connect everything (including charging) trough a single cable.
>>
>>58245509
Nope, they automatically switch frequencies, bands, etc. to not step on each other's proverbial toes and in the case of modern low energy bluetooth, they work with outputs so low they can't interfere with each other over anything except really short range.

There's a reason why with modern cellphone networks the only real problem you're ever going to run into relating to too many devices being connected to the same tower is that the towers simply don't have enough bandwidth between them and the carrier's system to run all the cellphone plans at full speed. Anything related to too many devices between the devices and the tower has long since been solved.
>>
>>58245130
>Adding additional steps

The entire idea of free ports is stupid anyway. I wish Apple would simplify things by offering a monthly subscription to owning ports on one's laptop. It would be nice if they designed efficient anf stylised porthubs, set up in an easy to understand deal. No more cluttered or messy laptops that look sill.

All the consumer would have to do is choose their porthub package experience (say you chose the classic bundle which came with VGA, USB Type A and micro SD) for no up front expenses but with the security of an annual subscription and monthly payments.

As always Apple is trying to lead the way forward, making other companies bend over to accommodate their practices. Sometimes (see flash) this is good when it makes lives easier for customers and developers.

This is simply not true. If you live in an apartment with a bunch of wireless signals your wireless speed is going to be significantly slower than if you had no other wireless networks in range but your own.

I had to deal with this at someone's place where their internet was basically unusable via wifi, and I had to physically wire a 75ft cable for them to their laptop.

yeah lets all slowly transition to the newer better shit like HDMI 2.0 and maybe DP as well.

apple is forcing everyone to move to the newer version so we can innovate and move forward instead of slowly crawling with outdated hardware.

look at usb 3, on my machine, not all the usb ports are usb 3. there's like 2 usb 3 and the other 8 are usb 2

learn to change kid, bet you like to boil your water before you drink it too or maybe get dig a well for it as well
>>
At first I was kind of pissed that Apple pulled this shit, as if you'd get rid of standard IO on a laptop. But honestly, on my current laptop the two ports I use are the headphone jack (which thankfully they've kept on their laptops), occasionally the USB ports for drives and what not, and then rarely the HDMI port to attach it to a display.

Some people have different use cases, and of course they are rightfully pissed at Apple for removing the IO. However, for most of the consumers that are buying Apple's products they really don't need native legacy IO for everything under the Sun. They can just buy a $30 dongle that handles everything piece of IO they could possibly need, chuck it in a drawer and in the 1/500 times they go to use their laptop and need it they can go hunt it down.

I kind of like the USB C route that Apple is going down. Have your Macbook that you use when you're not at your desk, come home, plug the laptop into your sexy 4k display via one port. Have it charge itself and output to the display at 4k to get all your shit done. And once support gets better you could even plug an external GPU enclosure up to your laptop and have it run pretty insane shit natively at 4k if that suits your use case

Yes they're cucking everyone hard, yes their products are still underpowered and overpriced like fuck. But for most people all they need is a nice looking display and a simple OS, their products fill that role, especially when compared to the pajeet tier shit that Windows and co are making. Hence why they can pull shit like this and people will just adapt, yeah they're getting cucked but people like simple and that's what they're providing
>>
>>58251585
You could have a point, but it is a bad point.

IF designers had settled on a single high speed interface for basically every device that they could connect every other interface through, then we would live in a wonderful world where instead of having to replace our current Blu-ray player we could just get the HDMI 2.0 module and swap it out instead.

However, we do not live in such a world and Apple isn't trying to create such a world either, see the number of Thunderbolt 3 devices that won't work with OSX because Apple decided they don't like a particular type of Texas Instruments chip that works perfectly fine with other Operating Systems but Apple themselves aren't using in their own products so by blocking it they force people to buy Apple's dongles to get the best experience.

What you want may be wonderful but your defense of Apple, who aren't trying to bring about what you want, isn't.

>look at usb 3, on my machine, not all the usb ports are usb 3. there's like 2 usb 3 and the other 8 are usb 2
And on the lower end models of the MacBook Pro there are four USB-C ports but only two are Thunderbolt 3, which is EVEN MORE confusing than having a combination of USB3 and 2 ports.
>>
>>58251840
Not him but I heard about Apple not using certain Texas Instruments chips and fucking up all compatibility. Doesn't someone just have to make some drivers to make it compatible with other shit or is it not just that simple?

Like the Thunderbolt 3 external GPU's aren't out of the box compatible with macOS however, someone has released some drivers which make it work - so it seems to me like it's possible at least

Just Apple being proprietary cunts as per usual and only supporting their own ecosystem. It makes perfect sense from a business perspective but it's just a dog move
>>
>>58252036
Perhaps it is a driver thing, but when you plug one of the devices in OSX doesn't even acknowledge its existence at all. It isn't like, >here is a device I can't use, get the proper driver for it
just nothing. And it isn't a hardware issue either because if you install Windows on the MacBook it can use the devices fine.
>>
>>58252249
Yeah it's a macOS driver issue from what I understand, the operating system itself just is refusing to even recognise those specific types of devices. There is a way around it but it takes a bit of work and is different for every type of Macbook due to some having this CPU/integrated gfx and another having dedicated GPU blah blah blah

It would be nice if Apple would stop being cunts and loosen up how strict they are on their shit being proprietary but as much as a morally good thing it is to do, it would hurt their business because less people are being strangled into their ecosystem; it's just not in their best interest

As soon as technology companies hit the big league business area they just turn to complete cunts and neglect their customers. It makes sense because money but is just sad

So, that would be most laptops that dont look like a clusterfuck.

The audio jack in the macbook pro is useful because it's a PRO laptop and the jack can be used by creative professionals quite frequently.

I think the removal of the headphone jack just because the iphone does not ALSO have a removable battery. If my phone is dying on the go and I want to listen to music, how am I supposed to get more juice? Power banks are pretty popular purchases for a reason.

I've never owned a mac but to me it seems that Apple is moving to what I've been doing with my ThinkPads since 2006.

>docking station at home
>docking station at work
>always dock for serious business

I rarely use any other ports than power and headphone jack on the laptop itself as all my peripheral are attached to the docks. Sometimes USB-a or VGA but rarely more than one cable at a time.

I still like to have the ports as a backup though. I'd hate to carry a dock or a bunch of dongles around just in case.
>>
>>58256446
It is better like this, one of the biggest complaints from Apple users is that there is too little stuff to buy. By creating dongles there are more apple related products.
