Hilarious

Microsoft was never very consistent in their UIs (see Office and Visual Studio), but at least they valued usability and accessibility. With Metro and all their "modern" crap, it all went to hell in name of flatness and all the shitty fads associated with touchscreens.

1/10 - Even the early Aqua theme from OS X looks better. And I'm not even a macfag.

UWP native apps are fast as balls sure, but you shouldn't be using those garbage platforms anon

Would be perfect if they actually finished it instead of still using resources from Vista

I have Dreamspark access to 7 and 8.1. I have Ubuntu on my other laptop. I prefer 10 because it feels comfy and faster than other OS.

At the very least, no more 48 hour waiting to install 600 updates on Windows 7/8.

Windows 10 UI design is an atrocious 1/10. They've added layers of partially functioning bullshit on top of Windows 7. They went so far as to replace Calc with a program that only works with the mouse. Talk about UI fail...

The W10 start menu is far, far worse than the start menu on XP or Win7. I would honestly give the W10 start menu a grade of 1/10 in its design -- it's that bad. Those fucking blinking tiles in the start menu are obviously designed for childrens' amusement, and have no absolutely place on a computer meant for serious work.

If that's KDE 4 you're using, I have to agree. It's atrocious. Here's how KDE 5 can look like.

The square flat design looks quite smart, modern and clean.

However as other anons said it's hugely inconsistent and the white windows can be harsh on the eyes.

>but at least they valued usability
Maybe back in the 90s, but they think "usability" is forcing people into doing things the way they did 10 or even 20 years ago. Windows STILL doesn't have tabs in the file manager.
>>
>>58214969
>The square flat design looks quite smart, modern and clean.

Yeah, on Windows Phone maybe. On Windows 10 it looks fucking horrible Inconsistent everything, including window controls and border sizes.
>>
>>58215234

>>
>>58211318

It's okay, I like flat design. However, none of it flows together to form a cohesive experience. It's a jumbled mess and Microsoft will never fix it or make it better, because they suck at design. Maybe they should hire the random cucks on DeviantArt to mock up a fully designed UI which MS can then implement.
But that'll never happen, and Windows 10 will always be ugly as fuck.
>>
>>58211318
Is this the confirmed design? If so where was this confirmed?

First productive none bloat filled UI for people who already know how to use a computer and don't need everything spelled out for them since Windows 3.

Fuck the stupid children that wanted the faggoty ass skeuomorphic designs. I don't need my fucking calculator to look like one I can hold in my fucking hand. I just want one that has fucking numbers on it I can see easily. I'm glad that fucking trend died fast.

Fuck the retards who think a bubbly shiny design is actually good.

Fuck those other faggots who want transparent glass and shadows. There is nothing casting a light.

It's a fucking operating system on a screen, why the fuck does it need to cast light?

Why the FUCK does it need to be transparent if the other side of it is too blurry?

Why do you faggoty ass children defend this shit and put on such a high pedestal?
What's do you want?
A squishy UI that lights up and makes jingly noises?
>>

>>
>>58211318

>>
>>58216752
You make good points, but what I want is Win3.x/W95's UI back. It isn't retarded skeuomorphism, bubbly, shiny, transparent, light-up, jingly, and doesn't feature those stupid animations.

But unlike W10 and this "modern" flat shit, it doesn't have an allergy to information density. That's my main objection to UIs these days, they assume you're on a 4" phone screen and can't see more than three things or so at once. They spread shit out in vast blank fields. Text is as large as possible. They eschew dividing lines (eg, around buttons), presumably on the assumption that you don't have a precise pointing device. Fuck that noise.

Would you take a guess which Linux DE they borrowed from? Come on, it's not that hard.
>KDE Plasma 5 is the successor of KDE Plasma 4 and was initially released on15 July 2014.
>Windows 10 (reviewed) became available on29 July 2015.
Are you saying that Windows 10 is perfect from a design standpoint?
I wouldn't call this finished, let alone perfect.
>>
I think Windows 3.11 was the most influential single invention that created (good or bad) and defined and entire culture.
>>
Consistency - 1/10, Jesus Christ even Jewgles M'terial design is more consistent than this crap

Aesthetic - 8/10, one of the better flat designs out there, sure isn't the trash rice shit you find in desktop breads and is miles better than homOSeX UI

Efficiency - 6/10, it's a box standard UI design at best, and offers terrible interaction worst. Hamburger menus that do fuck all, switches everywhere for no reason, the settings app is the worst example of this.

I had been waiting since 2001 and the Fischerprice Windows XP.

That god awful UI is one of the reason I grew found of minimalist and simple designs.
So when Microsoft finally made the switch i rejoiced.

Too bad it's not consistent explorer.exe is poorly written.
