Thinking about buying a chromebook mostly for school related stuff, have no intention of doing any gaming or heavy stuff aside from possibly watching some movies and listening to music.
Any reason why I shouldn't pick one of these up? For the price point and what it seems to offer on the surface it seems really good.
Looking into the Acer 15 right now.

They're great. The only laptop that can get its advertised battery duration.
If you need to use microsoft office at all for school then chromebook won't help you.

What's your price point for them?

the problem i see, is that some people will buy a chromebook saying "oh it's just for school i don't plan on doing anything heavy duty on it". then some time later, "whoops, [some critical task] needs to be done but the chromebook can't do it"

depends on what you want to do with it.
if you want to install windows on it, make sure that its possible with the model you are looking at.

I would argue that since ChromeOS is supposed to be 100% browser, you could use Microsoft Online Office instead, in a limited fashion.

really great purchase, i split the cost of a new macbook/ultrabook on a desktop and a chromebook and still had money leftover
