Corsair make the worst piece of shit fans in the world.

The bearing ALWAYS goes tits up and starts rattling and ticking like a motherfucker. It's driving me nuts now I have to bear this fucking shit noise for several days until Amazon ship the replacement fans I bought for the radiator.

REEEEEEEEEEE
>>
Corsair fans are some of the most overpriced pieces of shit in the market. They're also loud an annoying as hell.

Noctua are also stupid overpriced but at least they make quality products.

I've had friends swap Corsair SP120's for Delta AFB1212SH's on rads and saw temp drops of even 10°C.
They might be louder in terms of dba but the sound tone is much easier to the years and closer to "relaxing white noise".
>>
>>58190691
I bought Fractal Venturis as replacement

My PC is super quiet, I can even hear the pump make noise that's how quiet my fans are, but the Corsair fans on the radiator have a fucked bearing which is making a grinding noise, it's driving me nuts

Cougar fans good.
>>
>>58190629
Corsair is okay on the first few months, after that it gets deteriorated.
I like Noctua, but it is quite pricey.

I do too but hate their colors

Works for me. I bought my sp120s on release (back in 2012?) and they're still working flawlessly today.
>>
>>58190629
I have 3 of those fans as my intake fans.
>>
>>58190629
The only fan I've had go bad in any of my computers was actually the low-profile Noctua cooler I use in my HTPC. That fan died in under 3 years.
>>
>>58190629
I have 5 120mm corsair fans in my build
no I didn't pay for them
my only concern is that they could be a bit more silent maybe? maybe it would help if I just removed 2 or 3
>>
>>58191763
poo fan > all
>>
I have a 100r silent edition case with 2 of those fans still running strong.
>>
all i've ever had were corsair fans and i've never had any problems

stop being a whiny fucking nigger and learn how to properly place fans, faggot

The bearing just shit out on my 212 EVO's fan. I set my 4690k to 4.7 over the weekend for some gaymen and the fan sounded like a crashing helicopter

Noctua, here I come
>>
>>58196874
Was just about to buy a 212 evo for my 6600k, and a z170 board for it, how long did it last and what Noctua are you going for?

Why don't you just re lubricate your fans? There's prolly a guide on YouTube.

opinion discarded. you water cooling fags are never satisfied.
>>
>>58197285
No I mean I have CPU fans that came with the Noctua but they are just pushing already hot air inside the case since there is no intake or exhaust
And I have a fanless psu that exhausts straight into the case so yeah, fun stuff
>>
>>58197435
Why not just buy new fans?

It's all in the bearing. NEVER buy sleeve bearing fans no matter the brand. Always buy FDB (fluid dynamic) fans. They're expensive, but they last for decades.
Be careful, not all fdb fans are actually fdb. Do your research and most importantly, stay away from sleeve bearing fans.
>>
>>58197110
Lubricating sleeve bearing fans will only get you so far. Once fans start making grinding noises, it's over because the bearing itself is worn out. Lubricating noisy/worn fans makes them silent for a while (days, weeks, sometimes months), but they all eventually go back to being noisy, usually withing months of lubrication.

>>
>>58190629
Corsair are a noob trap.

They have a superficially convincing air of premium quality about them, but their products are actually cheap second rate garbage.

Noiseblocker, Noctua and Bequiet! are where the real quality fans are at.
>>
Is beQuiet a meme? just bought two of their fans
>>
>>58202020
No, it is not.
However be quiet's main focus is entry-level (cost sensitive) market but maintaining the quality.
It is not competing for the best performance, but best bang for the buck
>>
Can a simple blade and motor design really effect fan noise? Take any "silent" fan and bring it closer a pc case grill, the noise will increase substantially as air gets forced through the grill creating turbulence and vibrations.
>>
>>58199148
Cougar makes some pretty damn good fans too.
>>
I have a couple of Corsair ML 140 for intake fans, they are nice and quiet. Need to replace the SP120s on my rad though, shit is loud.

Motor has two main parts: stator and rotor.
Stator is the static one, generating the magnetic field via electrical current. Rotor is the rotating one, with real magnet material. During spinning, the interaction between stator's electromagnetic field and rotor's permanent magnet causing rotor fan to rotate, but also causing zig-zag (up-down) force. This creates the noise.
This is the reason why FDB (Fluid) will create a less noise than ball bearing.

TLDR:
Most of the noise is from the vibration between rotor and stator, not from the blade rotation.
>>
>>58190629
Stop letting them spin when you clean your case. though they are loud af

Arctic Cooling has been making really nice fans ever since the era where they started to save people from housefire 8800GT's, but I never see anyone talk about them
>>
>>58203091
Don't know about back then, but yeah their shit is fucking amazing, picked up a 5pack of the f12 pwm fans for $20 and they can daisy chain the pwm connection and all be controlled easily.

I recently replaced my case from the Phantom 410 to the Be Quiet Silent Base 800.

Now that I'm getting older I care a lot less about rice and more about having a quiet computer. I had a bunch of Xigmatek 120 and 140 mm fans that were insanely loud.

When I built the rig I was focused on it moving as much air as possible, and not on it being quiet. My damn rig sounded like a vacuum cleaner when I turned it on.

I started using the Be Quiet Pure Wings 2 since that's what came with the case and they are super quiet and move a good amount of air so I recommend them if anyone out there is looking for a good fan. They are on the pricey side, I think they're about $11 each or so.

I've got a couple of Ultra Kaze on the way, gonna slap them on a 240mm rad in pull, on a manual fan tuner.

My question is, how many rpm's are too many? these only go up to 3000, but I've seen some all the way up to 8000, at what point do they stop making a difference?

I feel the same sentiment.
I spent years with my computer fans at full RPM, (though it was partly because I didn't know how/didn't care to set them to lower speeds)

And at a certain point I just got tired of the revving engine next to me so I dropped the speed to minimum.
Things worked out better than expected since now I can barely hear the 7 fans in my system.

Pic related, I know they're cheap, I got the pack for 12 bucks at the time, but so far they've never worn out and they perform almost as good as the Corsair SP120 High performance -10 or so cfm but they have greater static pressure, believe it or not. Great for a budget build imo

get noctua anon

gonna slap these in my define s, 2 front intake, then a rear and a top exhaust. paired with my nh-d15 from about a year, finally going full poo fan mode

Since I needed to replace my fans, I figured I'd go from two 120mm fans on the front and back to one 200mm fan on each side instead, along with one for the top exhaust grate, since my case has room for either, and in addition to moving a good amount of air at medium speeds, they're a lot quieter too, AND I'm not daisy-chaining a shitload of tiny fans together either

If your case has the option for 200mm fans, buy them

Anon, you just got bad fans or they aren't mounted properly. Mine are super quiet

get some 3 in 1 oil and lube your fans you dumb shits

takes 2 whole minutes at most
>>

After using the phantom 410 for 4 years I would not recommend that specific case. It's really cheaply made and my experience with it wasn't anything special. By the time I got around to changing my components out I realized how low quality it is overall (especially the usb plugs and top portion and front of the case-- it's all cheap shit).

The 530 is well regarded on newegg so it may be a lot better than their older cases. I couldn't really tell you personally since I haven't used it or compared it to the 410.

If noise is an issue you can make sure your fans are quiet and turned down in your controller (if you have one). Also always use the rubber mounts to decrease vibration on your fans, hard drives, psu etc.

After using this be quiet case I will likely just re-use it when I upgrade my guts. It's nice and clean German engineering whereas the 410 NZXT felt like cheap Chinese shit especially when I compared them side by side.

That being said it probably doesn't reflect NZXT's quality on the 530 itself if it's a newer case I'm sure they've improved in the 4 year gap between I had between cases. Maybe someone here can help you with that specific case.
>>
>>58203091
>since the era where they started to save people from housefire 8800GT

Don't remind me. I had a 8800GTX and it ran 85c almost constantly, so I bought nearly a dozen scythe mugen fans and filled every slot of my CM690II. They brought the card down to 40c but was ridiculously loud.
>>
>>58199084

Okay : ^ )
>>
corsair's cases and PSU's are good but fans are shit

I have a AX1200i and a 750D and I had to replace the intake fans with Arctic Cooling F14's, now it's silent enough. Swapped the exhaust fan with an older Corsair fan I plucked off an older 800D and for some reason that was also better - though not as good as arctic fans.

Corsair fans went to shit while they were busy accommodating LEDs and crap
>>
I have a Corsair™ 900D, what are the best 120mm fans on the market in 2016-early 2017?
>>
>>58198674
That's actually correct in British English where a group (such as corporation, or band) is always referred to in plural.
