How do I enable the 0 dB mode for the RX 480?
The driver control panel won't let me set the fan speed to less than 522 RPM.

Suppose I download a file from the internet twice then I proceed to compare their checksums and they turn out to be different. So then I download the file a third time and it's checksum matches with one of the previous files.

Is it safe to assume that the two files with the same checksums are the exact same file the server is supposed to be sending and the other file got damaged on it's way? Why is this happening?

Are graphics card drivers installed within the operating system, or are they installed to the card itself like firmware? I've installed Ubuntu to a second hard drive to just fuck around with but it won't boot because of my graphics card. All the solutions say to install or reinstall the drivers but I don't know if that will have any effect when I stop fucking around and go back to my Windows install.

Don't get a sound card, get a DAC. If your motherboard has spdif audio, you're all set, otherwise use HDMI. Turn up the sample rate in the audio settings. USB is also a decent option but a sound card would be better if you don't have spdif.

Is there a way to modify this screen?

Yes, I know how to do it and I have all the resources available, but I don't know where to go. I know it's possible, but I don't know where it is. I know how to modify the boot animation, but not this screen.

The reason I ask is because SuperSU puts Lock image and "Custom" underneath it when you install it.

So, instead of saying Samsung Galaxy S7 powered by Android it says Samsung Galaxy S7 CUSTOM powered by Android. It might be due to SuperSU-v2.76.apk modify it. I'm about 85% sure. Because I, accidently, mounted /system/app the wrong way and restarted the phone making the logo disappear. It also broke every function of my phone. So, after fixing it here we are.

If it's the .apk modifying it, then whatever, I suppose. Just want to be sure. Would be NEET to modify it.

Are eye care monitors actually better for you or are they meme?

I just bought a 1080 to replace my 770. I have a 650 watt PSU. According to pcpartpicker my max wattage will be 613 watts with both cards. Would I be able to use my 770 as a physx card or could I be pulling too much power from the PSU at times and ruin it?

I use a Thunderbolt 3 port to power a USB 3.1 hub. The downside to this of course is that of all the useful features I can use Thunderbolt 3 for, I'm just getting extra old ports. I sort of *need* those extra ports though so, If I buy ANOTHER Usb Type-C hub that has its own thunderbolt 3 port, could I plug in the hub to the dock which is plugged into the laptop and have it work?

Every time I try to install Ubuntu MATE, it hangs at this screen. It also does it with regular Ubuntu. Manjaro and Antergos install just fine, but I'd really rather use Ubuntu MATE. I've had Ubuntu installed on here before, but I don't think I ran into any issues. Wat do.

Is water cooling required for todays overclocked CPUs?

I've overclocked my 2600k to 4.7ghz and it deff requires water to run. If I stress it in the summer i easily hit 90-95c. So, required is the key word here.

From what i've read, the new CPUs are nice and just don't get anywhere near as hot. I can probably overclock and get away with air cooling. Sure, water is nice to get it cooler, but is it required?

I contribute to a github repo and have only a loose understanding of git (I've memorized the commands I'm supposed to), so I hope someone here knows git well enough to figure out what's going on. For years things have behaved normally, but starting today I have an anomaly no one in our code group can explain (and some others who contribute to the same repo have are having this problem too, but not everyone)

Basically when I checkout the master branch (including force checkouts and hard resets to the master branch), it immediately shows as if I've modified four files (the same four files, always). Using checkout -- to discard changes to those files does nothing. Using git diff is impractical because they are large map files, and appears to be thousands of lines changed.

Can you figure out any reason that it would be showing as files modified immediately after checking out the master branch? By definition I should have no modified files.

Suggestions on how to increase my laptop's airflow/cooling?

Any time I play Space Engine for more than 15-20 minutes it overheats and shuts off, even faster if I'm exploring planets or other places that require a heavy workload. I've heard that SE can be run on even moderately outdated laptops but apparently it's just too much for my PC.

Pic related is my setup, with the laptop driving the monitor. The laptop is on one of those raised mesh stands that's supposed to help with airflow but clearly it's not enough to prevent overheating.

Any help would be appreciated, I just want to explore the universe without killing my PC.

At first I thought it might be aria2's fault so I tried downloading a file from the web browser six times and the checksums matched every single time but then I realized that my browser saves the files to a different hard drive so I tested a dozen times downloading the same file to different disks using aria2 and the cheksums matched again. I have a few questions regarding hackintosh, mainly what types of hardware are supported. I don't see mine on the list but I do see much older hardware supported so I had a curious question. Would a Dell Optiplex 760 work with it? No guides or google searching helped.

I reformatted my main install the other day and switched from Windows 7 to 10. Since then, everytime I click to expand a thumbnail on 4chan the image goes gray, does not expand (as if it was loading) and stays like that until the 404 filed does not exist pop up appears. Webm's will not load at all.

I tried this on 2ch and 7chan and this issue does not occur. I'm using firefox but I've tried this in Chrome and IE. I've also tried checking in safe mode and same issue occurs. I'm sure the solution will be really obvious but the support found via googling is non-existant. Thanks in advance.

I need to help in finding the best PC for 300 bucks or under for my dad who is sick. Only requirements really are 1TB or more harddrive and a DVD drive so he can have some movies and music on it. Just make sure you pick a Laptop with an SSD main drive with either an external HDD for added space or that TB HDD that you want.

SSD will make the computer feel fast, which is essential for long term use. Most shitty laptops come with AMD, not much you can do about it, but if you find a computer with intel i3 or CoreM go for that instead.

So I have a new i5-6600k, and I also use it for integrated graphics. On idle, just desktop, the percentages are good with 0%-12%

However, when loading up a game the CPU starts to use absurd amounts for the game, 70%-90% just for 100% orange juice. However Windows 8.1 (not activated) still runs smooth, and when opening another game at the same time it will share CPU usage while with the other game, and lower itself still maintaining stable frame rates. Programs like Opera, or steam, and even Skype have nice CPU percentages of usage, usually under 10%. All of the CPU cores are doing equal work and have similar temperatures, so no outlier.

Any idea on what would be causing this issue?

This Christmas I upgraded the graphics card on my PC and it's great, games looks pretty and run at decent FPS with no noticeable drops. My only complaint (and it's quite a major one) is that sometimes it will refuse to work. I was playing overwatch earlier and everything was fine up until the screen went completely black and any input I did with my mouse or keyboard didn't bring it back on and the only way I know how to fix the problem is to just restart my entire system.

I got a PS4 pro for Christmas. I only have a 1440p monitor. When I go into the display settings on the PS4, it says that 2160p isn't supported and the only other option is 1080p. Am I shit out of luck? Or is there any way to force it to output at 2160p and downscale to 1440p?

I have an mkv file that is out of sync because there is a few seconds of black at the beginning of the video, but the audio starts on time. So I extracted the audio and video, which are opus and h264, and tried to trim off the beginning of the video and merge them again. But ffmpeg can't decode h264 stream somehow. It keeps giving me errors that there is no frame, can't find codec parameters etc. Google told me to try adding arguments "-vcodec libx264" or "-format h264" but nothing works. I want to be able to resync the video without rerendering it and losing quality because it's already relatively low quality, and ffmpeg is the only option I know of. Any suggestions?

Is there any way to virtually emulate xbox 360 gamepad? I know about x360ce, but iirc it can only fool games into seeing directinput pad as 360 one.

But i don't have a game pad. Why do i need such bullshit? Well, pc port of FF13 is crap and constantly searches for gamepad, if pad is not connected you'll get stuttering and huge fps spikes. So i need to fool the game to think that i have x360 pad connected, but how?

I don't know why it works now and that's pretty spooky to me but I'm fine for now

took out 1 of my 2 memory sticks to see if one of them is broken and if that's the problem
it worked, got video signal again, went into bios etc and everything worked
then I shut down the system and put the second stick back in and it still worked
now everything is back up working

How do I extend the screen to three monitors? Whenever I try to extend it to the third one I get a message: "The display settings could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings."

When I try it from AMD CCC then I get message: "To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled."

The connectors used: 2x DVI (monitors), 1x HDMI (TV). According to ATI my GPU supports up to 3 screen, so it's compatible.
