I am just starting to learn C for the sole purpose of creating little text or curses based programs, but can't find cookbooks for anything.

An ebook, a website, a youtube channel, anything on creating any of these:
A little unix command.
Curses based file manager.
Curses based music player.
BBS (bulletin board system).

How do you cope with this? Any help (or resource) is welcome.

The C Programming Language, Second Edition, is not hard and all, and really will teach you C. Then just use the curses/ncurses man page, and use Google for easy help and tutorials on curses/ncurses. There are a couple results that look fine.
It's also easy to find PDFs for the book I mentioned, so there's no reason not to read it.
