Best distro, "lighter", for overheated pcs?

I'm torn between linux mint xcfe or xubuntu.
I also don't want to lose functionalities (I am linux mint cinnamon user).

Or if you have any other distro to suggest for the case?

Thank you anyways!

This.

You could just fix it by underclocking your cpu to like 0.5ghz if you really wanted.

Any minimal distro will be fine, like arch with xfce or just a wm.
If your main choices are either Ubuntu or mint though, I'm guessing that you don't know how to install arch or anything of that level yet.

Debian would be a good choice with xfce or some other lightweight de/wm, but I've never installed it before.
Lubuntu is the lightest *buntu and you won't lost any functionality from mint. I'd try that if I were you.

Mint and Xubuntu are not the lighteast there can be, try at least Lubuntu or a custom Devuan netinstall.

If the overheat persists underclock your CPU.

is Lubuntu better than Xubuntu/ubuntu or it loses something?

blow the dust out of it first with a can of compressed air. Don't Huff it. See if it still overheats.

Purchase a new heatsink/fan for your CPU and some arctic silver paste. Google instructions if you've
never done it to make sure you don't fuck things up.

If all else fails, install CPUfreq and scale down your CPU to something acceptable. i had a similar issue for about a week and it was my cpu fan slowly dying. I just replaced the whole heatsink and haven't had a problem since.

if you wanna go xfce i think xubuntu is your best play. don't see the point in using mint if you're not gonna rock cinnamon, it's basically all the mint team works on
