Because you can scale the screen to get better quality while maintaining the same UI component sizes. you dont actually run at 100% scaling at 4k, that would be retarded. i run my 4k screen at 200% scaling so it looks like a 2k screen (which is basically 1080p). text and images look much better.

ISIS is now releasing their videos in 4K.

Actually it isn't. Picture quality is fantastic on a 15" 4k.

And if everything is too small just set scaling to 200% so it's the same size as a 1080 but the quality is far better

I used to have a 4k 15 inch laptop. Unless you have the chink eye the amount of code you can fit on one screen is glorious. I would consider it less important than a lot of other features though. And worst yet it was limited to 48hz which is more aggravating than I thought it would be. Not sure if that still applies to newer 4k laptops.
