I think pseudo transparency with a tiny bit of opacity can look good, especially if your background is dark already and doesn't use too much contrast or different colors.

Solid green and black 1337 h4x0r matrix type terminals are the the way to go
anything else is n00b tier

Mine is just transparent enough that if there's no text in that area of the terminal, I can read through it. It actually helps a lot because I have devil's resolution and no screen real estate
