can confirm this. repair normie laptops all the time and the majority of them don't have trickle chargers to help preserve battery life. surprisingly, the macbook pro was one of the first machines I saw that could switch to just running off ac power and not charging the battery.

I have a friend whose PC is always full of issues, yet he never fixes anything. Browser acting up? Downloads a different one. Music player not working? Listens to music on his phone. Windows 7 forcing update? Lets it do its thing. Windows 10 shits the bed? Installs Ubuntu.

The battery is not used if it's charged and if it's plugged in. It is only used if it's not plugged in.

Having it plugged in does not matter for the battery, the battery is just not used.

Since people here dont have good stories of computer illiterate people ill start with a simple one. My grandmother told me her Waze app wouldnt speak to her. She comes to me saying that no matter what she does the Waze app wont speak the directions to her. I ask her if her iphone is on silent mode (that side tab) she says no. I ask her if the app itself has sound setting of their own, she says idk and hands me her phone. I take one look at it, see that the iphone is on silent mode and i take it off silent. Waze proceeds to speak directions outloud.

I have a friend that has 40 tabs open on chrome at all times.
she doesn't use bookmarks. she has the tabs open all the fucking time. I think about it at night it's really disturbing.

i suppose if you dont do much on the computer it makes sense not having many tabs, im always doing tons of shit at the same time (work shit, uni shit, game shit, shit posting, youtube, porn etc) so i have a million tabs open.
plus now i have 16 jigglypuffs of RAM so i dont need to exit shit, where i would have exited something before and then just gone back to it later if i wanted it, i can now just leave it open.

I have another for plugged in laptop cords. Both parents almost always have the fucking charger getting pulled at like right angles to where it plugs, either because they pull the laptop too far or the charger is caught on something. i have pointed it out to them b ut no matter how many times i do the next time i see them its getting fucking mangled again.

Also my retarded sister has cracked like a dozen phone screens and never fucking bothers to get a case or screen protector even when i tell her she should
