When did you discover that the mid-2012 macbook was GOAT /g/?
>Removable/Upgradable Storage
>Removable/Upgradable RAM to 16gb DDR3
>Disc Drive, which can be removed for another SSD/HDD
>Ethernet, Firewire 800, SD Reader
>No disgusting dongles
>IPS Display at 1680x1050
This thing has lasted me 4+ years without as much as a hiccup, i'd say its pretty good :^)

are they still $800
God those ports on the side are fucking hideous.
Man, the new ones are so aesthetic.
Early 13 had spec bumps, if you need more search results
I've got a early 2011 that I've lugged around everywhere since I got it. Popped in 16 gigs of ram and a new SSD. Aside from needing to replace the battery, I haven't had a single problem with it.

>that pic
too bad Aperture is kill and apple is neglecting pro users
>have a macbook air core i7 from 2011
>want a new cheap pc
>all new shit is atom garbage
>only thing cheap and old are meme thinkpads from the same year
>would probably get a performance decrease from switching
reeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Got a 15" mid-2012 right now.
Removed the disc drive and installed a 256GB SSD and used my 750GB HD for storage.
Shit will last me 10 years easily. Might get a new battery in the next year or so, but this has no sign of slowing down.

Same thing here.
Hope I never have to replace it frankly.

Are you me?
I've literally been looking at T420's for about a month now for that same reason.
Nothing's wrong with the macbook, I think I just want another computer.

Take the plunge for me.
T420 and X220 were what I was looking at because they were cheap, but performance wise I'm almost certain they would be worse.
T430 and X230 look better, especially since I don't care about the keyboard, but I still don't know if the performance would be worth the cost.
I wish it was 2020 or something so could buy a cheap used Panasonic Let's Note RZ.

that's not how you use that word
macbook pro 2012 sold like hotcakes after 2016 was shown off and everyone was waiting for something good
apple right now is having an identity crisis between being pro and pro-sumer
