how does g feel about ux/ui professions?

Probably underappreciated. Most autists here will tell you that they are a meme job and don't do anything technical. Meanwhile people here just code fizzbuzz in brainfuck and think they're the second coming of Alfred Einstein
UX jobs in New Zealand can net you up to $90k USD. Too bad I'm more of a software engineer and haven't got much design sense.

thankless and impossible job

/g/ hates the material design meme so what does that tell you
I think, is a pretty cool Job making everything simple

material design is stupid half the time since a lot of designers see that as a golden rule cause lulgoogle and apply it to everything. reality is that customers, SaaS, and enterprise apps need different approaches - whether it be high or low fidelity appearances

I personally don't like the material design thing where there's no depth to the design (as in, Z-axis depth. Shadows and shit), or on websites that should just be motherfucking websites with text, images, and links.

Material Design is Peak Flat UI.
We're currently in *exactly the same space* as iOS was a few years ago with skeuomorphism. It's gone so far that it's become ridiculous. Just as skeuomorphism began to hide functionality, absurdly flat design has begun to hide functionality.

This.
Also, a huge part of the problem is the changeover to so much touch UI. Touch UI needs big, Duplo buttons, but on a large desktop screen it just becomes tiresome and irritating.
Oh, and another thing, ridiculously thin fonts are in. I honestly have no idea how anyone over 50 is able to even use the modern Internet.
