What's the best CMS?
Everyone I know keeps memeing Wordpress but everyone over 30 seems are Drupal shills at full force.
Perch looks cute but it's not really free so I dunno if the "it's easy as shit :^)" alone can justify the price tag.

I already know enough HTML/CSS/JS to make static sites but I feel I need to learn a CMS eventually.
>>
Wordpress is easiest.

If you want to go full control backend then learn django and use https://www.django-cms.org/en/
>>
they're all fine if you update them. Do not fall for framework timesinks, you will never make a site that way, if that was your actual goal.

CMSes are tools you use to build sites quickly because sites are business ideas, nobody wants to spend months to build a platform just to find out nobody wants it. making your own cms is timesink shit which you do to fill the void of not having a real business idea, and will never, ever go anywhere.
>>
Joomla, though it's sad to see it slowly die out. It has the perfect balance between WordPress simplicity and Drupal customization.

Why do you consider joomla dead? quick google search says it's 3% of all websites.

I personally don't, but on most cms discussions that's what people claim. I primarily work on it through many clients and our company also creates plug-ins and components for it.

Wtf is that even anon?

Perch is good. By far the most flexible and lightweight.

Support is good too, forums give you direct access to the devs.

It's the compact muon solenoid at cern

So much this. Subscribe to their announce list/twitter/whatever and install security updates immediately. Those CMSs are popular and vulnerabilites are exploited as soon as they are public.
Besides ease-of-use and features, compare their security track records.

I want to see the non-compact one.

Wordpress is easy, but the code is kind of a fucking mess. Use it for now but don't install themes, look at how the default WP themes work and let that be your gateway into PHP. It's pretty easy. The Codecaedemy PHP course alone will be more than enough to get you started, and WP extensions should cover you when clients request the odd feature request.

I tried Drupal, but then I realized I just wanted to use it to be a hipster. It's like Fedora vs WP's Ubuntu. It's a pretty decent CMS and if you like it then you should use it, it's just that WP is more popular and supported.

There's CouchCMS which is pretty great but I'd only recommend it for clients that just want a website and nothing else.

Alternatively, you can look at a NodeJS-based CMS. I've been looking at Pencilblue and Keystone and they're both pretty decent, with Pencilblue having less of a learning curve, but also being less established than KS.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
