All in all, I will most likely install Xubuntu and use W7 in an offline VM.

I have 3 years to learn how to optimise the shit out of Linux for my T420 like I did with Windows 7.

(I can't fucking figure out thinkfan and tlp... Also, I can't for my life install a proper Latex distribution with a working package management system like MikTex on Windows.)

I don't know if I can continue to set up things with a GUI program and if it will override tlp defaults or just make it not work. It's not as easy to understand as how (Lenovo) Power Manager integrates into Windows.

I have read the Arch Wiki and other manuals like that but I'm not getting it 100%.
