What is the best way for a beginner to learn rsync?
man rsync

Man pages are good for reference, not always for learning.

what is there to learn?
it's not a programming language.
look up the command for what you want to do with it, and congratulations, you've learned rsync.

do dryruns first to make sure you don't fuck up and delete your important shit.
if the data is remote, use ssh with rsync.

A third this.
I learned to use it by googling.
Then I saved my script in a .txt and I look at it for reference.

Are you fucking retarded?
What is there to learn?

i avoided it for some time since it looked difficult
but it's not, it's actually about as hard to use as cp or scp (really easy)
It's fucking easy

before you can learn rsync you need to learn how to build a computer from scratch. Start with learning the logic gates and how you can build simple logic like half adders etc. Then move on to building a fully functional register machine.
Then you need to start learning assembly language for your machine. Then you can start contributing to the linux kernel so you can get familiar with linux. Make your own distro and install rsync. Then read a guide on how to use rsync. Done. I've might skipped a few steps, but that's a general outline.

Just read the Arch Wiki on rsync, they keep it simple, stupid.
