Nothing, still more lightweight than Gnome.

autistic logo. the only reason i don't use it
It's a poor desktop for Windows babies and not good for power users.
All paid-for enterprise grade Linux distributions for people that develop and get work done to make money run GNOME or Unity. This is not a coincidence.

This. Looks like shit.
Nothing, it's the best DE
cba to switch all my gtk programs for qt programs
Gtk gets an unfair amount of abuse. Qt looks like shit.
Starting everything with a k.

Wait, really?

You're dad didn't pull out.
KDE has features that KDE haters aren't even aware of. Gnome uses as much resources and does nothing.
Fuck gnome. You may as well use fluxbox and pull a stick of ram out and throw it in the garbage.

qt is a better toolkit.
It is easier to write.
It looks native on windows, osx and linux. (if you don't like how it looks, apply a different theme)
But most important: it is better for the users.
From the file dialog (obviosly kde is much better than the regular qt, but still) to the menu system.
It would be great if the kde fork would be more accessible so people didn't use qt at all.
Another way to measure these things would be by looking at software projects that use the toolkit and compare them.
It seems like the people who write Qt applications tend to cram in more features and thereby makes the better product.
I don't know whether that is because less people get burned out or because it attracts better developers, or some other reason.
