What's the greatest hack you've ever pulled off?
>>
hacked NSA, i have root acess to Utah data center
>>

Hacked the CIA and found their files on Terry A Davis. Ever seen that episode on Invader Zim where the studio of Mysterious Mysteries of Strange Mystery has an entire storage room devoted to Dib? It was like that.
>>
I bought a drug-dealer scale and went to target and weighed out all of the booster packs because the difference between the holographic cards and the rare cards is like 0.02 grams. Have you ever wondered why you never got good cards out of booster packs you would buy at certain stores? Because they did the same thing to all the boxes.
we stole all the booster packs too, easily stole $500+ in yugioh cards and sold them on forums for more

Hacked Area 51 and went through their files on reptilian aliens but I was high and forgot to take screenshots.
>>
there were these three russian file upload sites that used to be popular in my country since they allowed files bigger than 1 gb. a friend of mine found a way to increase the download speed without having to pay to get a premium account after inspecting the html of a couple of files' download pages for a day or two. he showed me how the exploit works and since he didn't know how to code, i wrote a script that automatically generates a premium download link. then we made a website that people can use to download from that site without paying. then we started making the site members-only and sold membership for half the price of those sites we hacked. i kinda miss those days to be honest.

>>
i spoofed the admin page of my rival guild's dkp site, then rainbow tabled the SQL database to get passwords.
The admin's/guildleader password ended up being something stupid simple like XOXO.
It was pretty funny, I don't think I ever defaced their shit though.

I know it was a pretty simple hack, but the rush was pretty sublime when I was doing it.

Got some nudes from a coworker, she had the best ass in the universe, even some videos being a whore with her friends while drunk.

Found a vuln in windows that allowed the fastest brute force of any other known method, above the second fastest method by a huge margin(1m combinations in less than 5 minutes from unprivileged account, guest user for example) developed an advanced toolkit around it (7 years ago) now I'm aware that is being exploited on the wild but not known, my toolkit combined mimikatz and other methods detected current system and used the best exploit to get admin acces, then automated many actions, including remote access, grabing every available password(sam, wifi, browser if possible) and probably more things that icant recall, did it just for fun, never exploited anyone, never shared with anyone. Even got a name for the tool and a webpage that i never used.

Basically carried it in my USB press start unplug and most of thr time the machine was pwned either within secs or some mins, or just failed. It had a great success rate, carried it with a very big dictionary of most used passwords.

And more stuff but I don't have time to write more.

Not sure what you consider great. Many people think typing ipconfig is mad hacker skillz. In my job some days I will walk end users though breaking into network gear from the other side of the country because someone forgot a password or something. Would be just as easy to do this for nefarious purposes.

I have seen pen testers walk into banks and have the employees hand them the server, the physical token and the password for that server. Some times hacking has nothing to do with skill and everything to do with just finding a really weak point in the security.

Wrote a tiny script to use the caps lock led as temperature alert. If the CPU temp rises more than 50°C, the light turns on, it is less, it turns off

soldered a potentiometer to the PSU fan. It's a 12 year old PSU, so it revs at 100% regardless of the load making it very noisy. I use the potentiometer to make it much more silent

manually built a Debian arm image in an IMG file using debootstrap, then wrote scripts for it to run on Android phone. Now I just run the script that mounts the image and chroot into it

installed the same Debian image in two of my old Android phones and an Android ""smart TV"" box and now use the most powerful phone as a mediatomb and download box

Why would you even make up a story like this?
>>
Back in highschool a teacher and I who here close used to spy on the other kids in the class via a novell-rat thing.

One kid would get on chat rooms and flirt with anybody who claimed to be a girl. Basically just complimenting them somehow and then just begging them to be his gf. It was so funny to watch him do it live. We would watch him slowly compose a petty comment, eventually send it and then get rejected. You could see the sadness as he read their messages too. Meanwhile, we're both trying to hold back our laughter as we watch, both irl and virtually.

Another kid was ordering some pizza online but before they completed the order they went afk, so we took control and added 2 shitty pizzas. They didn't notice and ordered them anyway. Visible confusion on their face when the pizzas showed up.

Oh, also I wrote a batch script that initiated the shut down sequence after waiting for 30 seconds, it was like two lines and a few google searches. For some reason we could write to the startup folder of the currently logged in computer. So one day during lunch I copied it to half of the computers in the computer lab. They stayed like that for months. Good times.

I recoded the Windows operating system in 2 days.
>>
Skipped highschool for several weeks and nobody noticed.

I figured out that if you skip the first class of the day, when they take attendance, the computer will send a pre-recorded message to your parents saying "your kid didn't come to school today"

However, after 1st block, the computer compiles a list of every student in school and emails it to the teachers. The teachers in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th classes have to take attendance and cross reference their attendance sheet with the one that was emailed to them to see if the absent kids have notes to be absent or not. If not, they fill out a report and give it to the dean, who calls my parents.

But, teachers didn't do that because it's too much work.

So, I would show up to my first class of each day, then skip class and go home for the rest of the day (parents worked at the office). Played videogames mostly.
>>
>>58080471
Also, found a journalism 1 pass. These were little ID cards the kids in the journalism class got to wear and walk around and pull kids out of class to interview them for the school newspaper. I photoshopped my face and name on it and then went around the school and pulled my friends out of class and we went and did other stuff

I once ''hacked'' a website which let you make wish lists for christmas, it had a number in the url which represented the account number in php, so you could just type in another number and be ''logged in'' on another account. It also let you change te password whilst showing the previous password in plain text, along with the e-mail adress. 1/3 would have the same password for that e-mail adress. I used this to send mean messages to unsuspecting friends of the usually female users via MSN.

In my defense, I was 13 or something.

Unless you're dealing with a website with retardedly bad security, probably not. Even if you can locate the username-password pair data, the passwords will likely be hashed, at which point you'll probably have to a dictionary-based attack. Most "hacking" needs to be done through social engineering, and that's how formidable systems end up being compromised. For a better idea of general web exploitation, look up the following shit:

John the Ripper
SQL Injection
Local File Inclusion
Remote File Inclusion

Or just google and look into "adversarial security" in general.

One my roommates a few years back had his tablet (ipad, or maybe something else) laying around outside his room and he wasn't around. I was curious what the fuss with these things were about, so I picked it up and was going to take a look. Turns out it had one of those touch screen locks where you need to swipe a certain pattern. Hmm, I wonder if....yep, breathing on it showed a distinct swipe pattern. It was pretty obvious at any rate (something like a star or using all four corners). I got into his tablet, saw that it was just as shity as I was expecting, than put it back where I found it.

Still never bought a tablet to this day.

I doubt it, the precision, not the price. I'm sure it gives you a reading that shows the 100ths, but I'm betting they did some hack program job to ensure it levels off when in reality it would continually fluctuate between a +/- .05ish. There's a reason why there's a distinction between labratory quality and drug dealer quality. Drug dealers rarely give a shit if their off by a few .01 grams.

In school there was a cat and mouse game between a few of us geeks and the school's admin, blocking websites, restricting access to the command prompt, etc. The only legit 'hack' I did was in finding the email server on a hidden share. In it was an .ini that for some reason contained a reasonably up-to-date password file for the whole school, teachers included, though passes were partially encrypted (some sort of keyword cipher, then encoded in base64. I copied the file onto my new 64Mb flash drive, and that night found an IRC friend who helped me write a script to decode it. They had set the default passwords to be the same as the usernames, so it was pretty simple for him, but blew my mind. Next day I'd read a few teachers' emails, but was too worried about being caught to do anything with them.

Why don't private schools force their teachers to uphold stricter info security standards? Literally passed algebra 2 by changing my grades (and those of multiple other classes of that teacher) when I was "helping connect her laptop to the projector"

In the same vein of what you did, I found the address for a file server t hat the film club hadn't fully deployed yet in a batch file somewhere on the network. Within the week I had uploaded all of the popular game files the students shared onto that server and managed to distribute the link as our safe hiding spot for them (we were a school that gave their students laptops because "were teaching our students for the new age". Thank God they were thinkpad x220ts.).

naw the $50-$100 coke dealer scales are accurate, they even come with weights to recalibrate them. They're accurate to the nearest 0.01, +/- 0.005. Ive tested out if the weights are accurate on other scales that I had access to at a job I had, they're legit. They just decalibrate super easily if dropped, and after a while will start to kind of fade and be hard to keep in calibration, I imagine the expensive ones last a lot longer.

Also, coke dealers care immensely if their shit is off by a few 0.01g

didn't hack anything but i found an entire windows xp install on a used hard drive i bought off the internet. i found a bunch of family photos of some white trash hicks living in a trailer park, and good indication this was a family computer mostly hogged by a snot-nosed brat that liked to play war games and downloaded a bunch of wall hacks and aimbots. my assumption was the kid filled the computer with viruses and they just dumped it off at a pc repair shop refusing to pay for repairs.

i found a password.txt file somewhere on the drive, then i found out his main account name by searching the drive and proceeded to deface every single account i could find that belonged to him, including some cringey forum he set up so that his "buddies" could chat about cheating at shooter games.

To be quite honest it was the simple hack of using a megaupload premium account cookie to get 1-click downloads that would max out my internet connection.

There used to be a very active file sharing forum called megashares. It might still be around, I haven't checked.

But back around 2007-ish this forum had -everything-. Everything that was new, and a whole lot of really obscure old tv shows and anime too. And PC games and music albums. All hosted on megaupload which never seemed to have its links expire like rapidshare and others did at the time.

If you had a megaupload premium account you didn't have to wait for the timer to count down or anything you could just click on the link and get a direct download then and there.

And all you needed to have a premium account was a particular cookie in your browser that you could set up using a browser extension of your choice. It took 2 minutes to install.

Every everything at my fingertips, just one click away to be mine forever. It was pretty cool.
