How the fuck is Erlang/Elixir a replacement for JS?
>>
>>58044986

If Elixir came up 20 years ago (when Java was rising), who knows?

Erlang always had problems with it's """special""" syntax, even though personally I find it pretty neat, almost like C. Elixir solves this problem and has Erlang's super smart concurrency model.

Anyway, things went down as they did. Functional languages will always have it difficult, because they are vastly different from what university teaches and what the industry uses.

But as concurrency will be more important and Erlang/Elixir has just the gold standard design for reliable distributed systems, I think it might have a big comeback in the next few years.

Nevertheless, Java has a really big pile of legacy code and millions of coders. Also people put a lot of money into optimizing it. If some major company would push Elixir it might really get big, who knows..

should i learn erlang/elixir?

>java is javascript

no you should learn python, then you'll be a programmer, then you'll realize the only thing you need is to get better at your specialty language (aka python)
then you'll read the two volumes of "write great code", follow a python SICP, and use optimized python libs or Cython for critical tasks and realize you'll much probably never need Erlang's "mega-reliability-from-hell" and STFU

But you won't
cause you're a fuccboi wannabe

damn i thought python was garbage like java
>>
>>58044986
Because Elixir doesn't run in web browsers
>>
>>58050141
Python is garbage and Java is garbage but they're very different breeds of garbage
>>
>>58050152
Is Javascript stealing my data as of right now? I heard that it is the literal botnet
>>
>>58050164
programming is garbage tier employment but you faggots will all die once the war starts.
