REMINDER: If you're not utilizing the terminal in a GNU+Linux system, you're not really using GNU+LInux.

1995 is calling OP, they want you back.
Times change, just let newbies install Ubuntu and have their GUIs without touching a terminal.
>>58034398
I'm learning so i mostly use everything without the terminal but slowly i'm getting addicted to open everything with it.

I actually went mouseless and now I'm using a window manager called Ratpoison, which lets me use terminal commands without a terminal. Even so, wouldn't think of forcing every anon to jump right into it, you need a period of learning.

How do I get WM's to work? they only come up as blank screens for me?
>>58034863
then its working
>>58034880
no, as in it still has the login screen as a background, and I can't get any key bindings to work
Heck, I try using awesome, but the little menubar won't even show up

Using the CLI for basic or even mildly advanced os functions: like fixing things when the gui doesn't respond, okay thats makes sense.
Using CLI for everything though? Absolute fucking maddess.
Is that even possible? Sooner or later you'll have to fix something and that requires using the terminal 99.99% of the time.
Do people actually use that GUI stuff for installing packages?
>>58035603
I do, when I can. Easy to keep track of programs that way.
>>58035646
Ah okay, I just always found it simpler to type "sudo apt install <package>" into terminal
>>58035676
I do that when I use third party ppa's, but sometimes people don't name their programs right.
Like ill do
>sudo apt-get install 7zipfull
But it's called p7zipfull_fuckface_horridname_jonsan
