may someone recommend me a good word processor and something similar to mspaint (has to be light weight)? also, any other suggestions are welcome
thanks
>good word processor
LibreOffice is fine if you need a replacement for Word. Kate is fine for a Notepad replacement. Emacs is fine if you need an IDE.
>something similar to mspaint
You're kind of fucked here. I know GNU has something similar, but it's kind of shoddy. I haven't tried the other options (GNOME has something similar, too), so maybe you'll have better luck with those.

ugh, how do i sudo apt-get Kate on Windows?

Good word processor: LibreOffice. Free as in freedom and in price.
something similar to MSPaint: GIMP is good imo.

LibreOffice for sure.

Use Pinta, it's relatively lightweight.
Oh yeah, and

Nomacs (picture viewer)
Cmus (terminal-based music player)
Htop (Terminal-based task manager and resource monitor)
Speedtest (test internet speed via terminal command)
All simple, no-frills programs that do their job well.
As for GUI upgrades:
Xfdashboard (if you like GNOME's Activities viewer, but don't like GNOME)
Cairo-Dock (a highly customizable Mac-like dock)
Synapse (a great launcher)
And terminal emulator apps to look at
Terminator (allows you to open multiple terminal windows in one view, if that makes sense)
Guake (terminal that drops down on command)
Cool-Retro-Term (If you want style over substance)

To continue on my other post:
VLC for media playing and ripping, some people prefer MPV for media though, but I like both.
Thunderbird for mail and RSS

Your the guy that stole that windows 7 laptop aren't you?
Give it back.

Thank you!
I've been looking for a good Paint replacement for a while myself.

Cygwin or if you're on 10 just actually apt get it

Also its worth noting that if you use tmux you can split any terminal

Don't listen to idiots, install kolourpaint
>>58009218
Oh shit I didn't know this was out there
Also if you're a real piece of shit you can run the pre-vista era Mspaint on wine.

Bash on Ubuntu on Windows
Look it up

Why do you think it works with GUI programs?

WPS is superior in every way.
